hi thanks i will see what i can find

Hiya,

It depends where you are in the country. If you claim JSA or a benefit you can ask to be referred to the disability advisor within the jobcentre. However if you are claiming ESA or Incapacity Benefit you can ask to be referred to a Pathways To Work partner as a voluntary customer, either via your jobcentre or your benefit delivery centre, or disabiliy partnership team. These vary throughout the country.
I currently work for one of the Pathways To Work partners, and I was diagnosed with BC in Oct, so I know part of what you need.
If you get a voluntary referral, they can help with jobsearch, work placements, or try some permitted work, all while still getting your ESA, but there are earnings limits on the permitted work. They can help with retraining, and can also help with some funding depending on your circumstances and what you need. They can also help with rewriting your c.v., etc, and it’s all for free and no pressure.

Good luck with your search.

Let me know if you need any further help.

Hi Jo, that sounds really interesting.
I was diagnosed in Sept, was on the verge of returning to work after being at home for three years with my children.
Now claiming ESA until my treatment finishes in the spring, but really want to get a part time job.
I used to be a teacher, but have decided i don’t want to go back to that again…
Will Pathways to work be able to help me find a job do you think, while still claiming ESA?

Nasreen

Hiya, definately, the pathways partnerships are set up for people on ESA.
Just get in touch with the job centre or benefit delivery centre and ask for a voluntary referral, they’ll then invite you for an interview, and just explain to them what you need/want.
