I’m going a bit stir crazy as I can’t do any exercise, I’ve been trying to lose weight until up to when I was diagnosed (only found a lump due to jumping jacks!!)
Does anyone know if something like Yoga would be ok to do? I have a PICC line in so I know I’d have to be careful with that and I know Yoga isn’t exactly excericse, but it might help with relaxing?
Has anyone else tried this or know of anything that could help?
Can you ask your BC nurse? You might find a local cancer sport centre holds exercise classes. My centre runs yoga and tai chi classes as well as relaxation sessions. What about walking? It’s said to be the best all round exercise as it’s weight bearing and you can alternate walking fast enough to get breath
Ess and speed up heart rate with slower bouts. That reminds me that Macmillan runs walking sessions for cancer patients. Around me they are twice weekly from the local hospital.
Exercise can make you feel better too. Maybe you have a friend you could walk with in case you need to cut the walk short??
Yoga is an excellent choice for body and mind, also swimming is good for the shoulders and muscles! I walked lot’s throughout my treatment, not just flat walking, hill walking it’s great for the mind too!
Hi bettymoo,
I used to do aerobics once a week before DX so haven’t done it lately what with ops & chemo but I asked my oncologist if I could go back to it on my ‘good’ weeks between cycles & she said yes go for it as shouldn’t pick up any bugs as the people that go should be healthy! I’ve got a Hickman line in so shouldn’t be to much of a prob. Hope you find something xx
