Any nail tips?

Admittedly, my nail damage happened with the sepsis (Nov/Dec) rather than the chemo, but I figured some of you might have some good ideas?

At the point of the septic shock, all my nails took damage. Thankfully they are growing in well after that point. On the lighter ones (pinky isn’t too bad) it’s a line and the older part looks ‘unhealthy’ and a bit rippled. On the worst (thumb is *so* bad) it’s a horizontal crack that’s getting worse as the old nail dries out.

Was thinking about a thin layer of glue just to cover the split and hopefully stop them from catching on something. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @bookish

Before I started my chemo last July I applied a nail bed cream called Polybalm.  Someone suggested it in a blog, can’t remember where, but I researched it and bought it then on Amazon. It’s pricy (£37 for two bottles - about the size of lipstick applicators) but has certainly helped my nails, applied it 2 -3 times a day. I can still see pale white curves after each chemo session and there are ridges but my nails aren’t as brittle or flaky as I was warned they would be.  Read about Polybalm here: polybalm.com/

Take care, Kaisa

Hi @bookish

You have probably sorted this but have you seen that Look Good Feel Better do a free nail care workshop for people with cancer. It might be worth looking into.
