Hi Tina

I am bumping this up in case some have missed it

Just an update of the further support BCC can offer you via this link too including our ā€˜Living with secondary breast cancer’ courses which are also held in Leeds, I hope you find this helpful:

thank you lucy , for the information , i keep looking but dont seem to find any where i can go to meet up with people , there is an evening group in bradford once every 3rd week but evenings arnt good for me cause this is when i am at my tiredest and find meeting new people then

Hi Tina, I know what you mean about it getting lonely - I’m just primary breast cancer and I’m in Holmfirth, so not that close to you, but near enough but I wondered if you’d looked at the Haven in Leeds? I cant say enough about them - they’re really great.
My treatment plan has been incredibly isolating - I’ve kind of fallen through the system when I had my second batch of surgery and was diverted to a different hospital and no longer have a BCC nurse and my husband has more chance of falling pregnant than I have of my oncologist getting back to me, but I’m muddling along, and have finally started my radiation at Jimmys.
The Haven have been great - really supportive, and they have get togethers for younger women and also offer all kinds of therapies on offer from mindful meditation to yoga and a whole bunch more - they make you feel as if you actually are a normal person and not just an inconvenience… They’ve made this a lot more bearable, so why not give them a call - and i might well see you there…

hi deborah ,
thank you for replying , i believe holmfirth is near huddersfield if i am not mistaken , i used to work in huddersfield over near lindly
i have actually just been in touch with the haven and have an appointment to go and speak to someone next week about what is on offer , it does seem really good , just taken me a while to get the courage to start going out again i found a lot off my friends dont know what to say so they dont say anything , its like caner can be caught , i do understand it is hard for them to come to terms with my cancer not being curable but now is when i could really do with friends .
do i count at the age off 48 as younger women lol but anyway i hope i will get to meet a few people while i am there xx
good luck with all your treaments i hope everything is going well take care and once again thank you

Hi Tina I live near Selby but am in leeds often as my daughter lives there. Whereabouts are you in leeds? Did u just phone the haven? I attend York hospital for treatment…but leeds is about equal distance.

Hi everyone,
i’m from Highburton near Huddersfield, just over the hill from you Deborah. I think I might have seen you once at Jimmys when I was having rads March/April, I usually had morning appts but a couple of times went in the afternoon, I think YuouTube might have been there then. I’ m only a primary girl but would welcome meeting for a coffee and a ā€œnatterā€. Had my surgery at Halifax and am now on the Breast Cancer Care/ NHS 4week Moving Forward course.
best wishes to you all, Pat x
