Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Morning Ladies,

Just a quick hello, the rocking chair horse and fairy picture had disapeared by the time I came back on Sunday from the walk and lunch and pedicure with my friend which is good, hopefully to someone who can make good use of them, they were both my daughters so 20++ years old, but in very good condition.

I will be off to York on Friday with YD which will be an early start. Love the picture of your Cat lovewine in the dog basket. I will try to post a picture of the cat tree Joan.

Have a good day ladies

Hello Ladies,

ED has already been telling me about fat rascals and curdy tarts, YD will definately make a beeline for Betty’s, they will not help much with the diet though! The cupboard under the stairs is not the one which I removed 5 black bags of stuff from Joan I had to laugh I can just about fit a hoover and my cats supply of litter and some shoe polishing bits in there. The large cupboard is upstairs next to the bedrooms, its been used like an attic really, saying that I do have a small attic but you cannot get up there its only about three foot high OK for Christmas Cat tree.jpg decorations and I think there is a dismantled pram up there, which will be staying there!

Felix has still not been on the cat tree, like I sait it will take time…

Evening Ladies,

Dreadful heavy rain this morning I nearly had to hold up at home it was raining so heavily, the wind has been very strong here, Doris was doing her worst. We have scaffolding at the back of our office because there is a building that is due for demolition, all of the sheeting that they put up to shield us a little from the dust almost took off of its fixings like a kite, the poor guys were there about 4ish tying it all back on again, the sound of the wind against it actually shook the building for most of the day, I was worried the scaffolding might give way and hit the building with us all in it. It is peaceful now and dry so hopefully we can enjoy our weekend. No more fallen trees I hope Lovewine.

Have a good weekend x

Oh Lovewine, you have had a rotten day. You will need your time off tomorrow. What a shame about your fence, hope your neighbour keeps the Rottweiler tied up. It is scary being out in high winds. I vividly remember the hurricane years ago, when we lost half our roof. I got a phone call to say what was happening and drove home from work, foolishly, along a road lined with tall trees. Terrifying. Glad you made it home safely. We havent had it too bad here today although they did close the pier for sAfety.

Hope everyone elsehas escaped the worst of the weather. At least it will all be clear for your trip to York Cassie.

Wow, the shawl looks beautiful Wildpurl, worth all the effort. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Wisley and that it helped you to wind down after a difficult week. How nice to be so near that you can walk there. Were there lots of butterflies to see?

Cassie, you had a bit of a scary day yesterday too. Glad all the scaffolding stayed in place. Have a lovely trip away, york is a great place for a short break.

Rosie, good news about the TV and being able to collect it en route to Plymouth next week. Enjoy your visit to Fountains Abbey.

Hope no incursions of Rottweiler Lovewine.

I’ve had a mainly non working day today. Started my new course on Children in Literature today, which was very good then had a long lunch with friends at a local deli cum restaurant. (Run by the same people who own the restaurant we ate in in Bristol.) Spinach and ricotta ‘meatballs’- cant remember the italian name but my friend says it means badly made, which they certainly werent) followed by a most delicious though sinful pudding, hazelnut and raspberry Eton Mess, made with meringue cooked on the premises. Havent done much since i got back, oddly felt really tired. probably in anticipation of the weekend!

Hello ladies , a very quiet day here, not done a great deal, Rosie my steam cleaner has been dispatched but not yet arrived, can’t wait for it to turn up so I can get started ?, I totally understand your feelings on returning to Cyprus , it will be difficult to leave family behind , at least not for too long as I think you said you are back in May? , still be hard though ?
My ES and DIL and dog are off to North Yorks in the same cottage we stay in, they leave on Monday for 5 days, hoping the weather is a little less wet and windy!
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend, safe trip tomorrow Rosie when you meet up with DD?
We were going to drive to the Norfolk coast for the day but forecast not brilliant so may visit some large woods near Rutland Water instead???.

Good morning ladies!
We had a change of plan yesterday we travelled to Newcastle and spent the night at DD’s weather looking too unsettled to meet en route and we would have covered most of the ground so decided to go all the way! Back later today! At least we get longer with them! Hope you manage to get out somewhere Lovewine!

Morning Ladies,

We got back home about 5.20 last night, I feel a bit tired this morning but I am sure I will perk up. We had a lovely long weekend and managed most of the things we wanted to do, York Museum, the Minster, Chocolate story and the shambles where we had some street food before we even dropped off our cases because our train arrived before booking in time at the lodge where we were staying. We managed a trip to the Dales, Moors and Whitby on Sunday which was good taking in some ruins and pretty villages on the way and also the village where Heartbeat was filmed, quite funny after all this time there is still Scripps Garage and a old fashioned Ford Anglia police car. We did walk quite a bit because the lodge we stayed was outside the city walls.

We did have some lovely meals out, so I am not getting on the scales for a few days.

Back to the grind today and I am not looking forward to it, I did manage to get my washing done last night and am in the process of drying some at the moment.

Good to hear you are now healing better Rosie, you must be relieved. Lovewine your gadgets must make you feel like wonderwoman, with all that energy, it is satisfying though to get down to completing planned jobs around the house.

Good morning ladies!
Cassie glad you enjoyed your time in Yorkshire. We are Heartbeat fans also and still watch it on ITV 3!?
Lovewine I love the picture of yogi he looks as if he is on his throne! Very happy sunbathing!
How exciting that YS is coming for weekend and to catch up on his news!
I spent the evening with GD’s whilst DH and YS were at match and DIL was at college! We ended up watching a DVD called perfect pitch it was a 12 and I really didn’t think it was suitable for 9 year old but she had clearly seen it before and looked at me when a rude bit came on! I tried not to show any emotion about it ?There were a lot of sexual references!
Fortunately DIL returned half way through and sent her to get ready for bed saying she could watch the film anytime! She came back with her book and I was very impressed by her reading. She came across the word reinstated and when I asked her what it meant she gave a clear definition!
Older GD is going to take part in a science exhibition in Bham in 2 weeks they are county winners of an experiment and are now going forward for the national event! ?
March today ladies!

Well we survived the weekend and no mishaps to report to the parents. Took them to a large soft play centre Saturday, which was absolutely heaving, probably because of the rain. Both in bed and asleep by 9.30- sounds late I know but par for the course for them. Fortunately they slept all night, bouncing into our bed at 6.30. Sunday we went to Bristol Zoo. Parents were back by 5 so we made a swift getaway for recuperation and alcohol. Monday i was working in Cardiff, yesterday in London, so first chance to get on the board. I fitted in an interesting exhibition at the Royal Academy yesterday, on art after the Rusdian revolution, before going to my late afternoon meeting. Exhausted when i got back though, at 10pm. And i seem to have pulled a muscle in my left leg on Monday, which got worse during yesterday, not helped by me mistakenly thinking i coukd catch a bus from Tottenham court road to Paddington so finishing up walking to Oxford Circus. So im distinctly limping today.

Lovewine, your house must be spotless and gleaming. Has YS been warned to keep moving when he comes, in case he gets the steam treatment too? It will be lovely to see him though and catch up on all his news. The pasnip and Bramley soup sounds unusual. Does it taste sweet?

cassie, you certainly packed a lot into your few days away. Hope it has recharged your batteries a bit. You certainly need it in your work.

Rosie, you have done a lot of travelling too. But lovely to be able to catch up with your family at both ends of the country. I liked the idea of you going to a cavery. Great news that your wound is healing so much better. What will you do about the dressings when you return to Cyprus? What a thrill for older GD to have got so far in the competition. Hope they make it through this next stage. I’m with you on the suitability of some of the films kids watch, they do seem much more knowing.

Wildpurl, hope this week is being easier than last. Not long till Friday.

Hello Ladies,

I did come back  to a backlog of work and staff are off on leave at present so it makes matters even worse.

We did fit in a visit the railway museum in York and Betty’s on our last morning in York, we had afternoon tea at 12.30 our train was 2 mins past 2 so we thought we should make the most of it. We did not manage a visit Staithes but I googled it and it looks very pretty, similar to Fowey lovewine.

I have been to a family funeral today, my mum’s sister passed away a couple of weeks ago, she had advanced Alzheimer’s and had been in a care home for 7 years she did not have any quality of life or the ability to recognise anyone for some time before she went into the care home she was 89 when she passed away. I met one of my Mum’s cousins at the funeral she was 94 and still quite active its amazing. It was also nice seeing my cousins and there children and grandchildren. One of my cousins sons is appearing in the taming of the shrew at the Globe theatre and had to dash off after the service.

We were please it did not rain all day as predicted there is nothing worse that standing in the pouring rain at a funeral, it rained first thing this morning but cleared up in time.

GS is doing well ED went to the parents day today they had an inset day at the school while it took place apparently the school are very pleased with GS’s work and ability to have fitted in and even talked a little about the meeting that previously taken place with members of staff from his old school they said they had been painted a picture of a very differently behaved child and had been very negative, to ED relief the new school seem to have only good things to say so far, GS seems very happy there. GS was delighted yesterday they had book day at his school and the children were encouraged to dress up as characters GS would not partake in the dressing up but was very happy to see David Walliams who came to the school no doubt to talk about his new book that was out yesterday. I am feeling very tiered now and look forward to relaxing a bit over the weekend.

Rosie, have a good flight back to Cyprus tomorrow and enjoy the warmer weather, even if it is only for a couple of weeks. Hope your tooth doesnt give you too much trouble en route. Pity the theatre wasnt that riveting, i havent seen Gaslight.

Wildpurl, what good news about your daughter. I guess youve been on tenterhooks the last couple of weeks? Good luck with the garden planning. Glad you’re enjoying the Moonstone.

Lovewine, pity you werent able to get to your Aladdins Cave today, hope you manage it tomorrow. Are you going looking for anything in particular? Have a lovely weekend with YS.

cassie, What good news about GS. Full marks to his new school for not being influenced by the negative attitude of his previous one. Quite a catch getting David Walliams. My grandchildrens school was also celebrating World Book Day and for the first time GD, who is quite shy, decided she would dress up, as the Worst Witch. YD made her costume but ordered a Broomstick on line. Unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time so her dad had to go out into the woods to collect hazel twigs and cobble one together. And it was dark, cold and raining! I hope she appreciated it. Hope you have a relaxing weekend after your demanding week.

I’ve had a quieter couple of days yesterday and today. Even found time to catch up on this weeks Italian course, though it is a bit if a struggle, especially the bits where we have to listen to Italians speaking and then answer questions. I wish it was possible to slow them down! Tomorrow we are in Stratford again, for a Chinese play, which should be an experience. Sunday afternoon i’m on pier duty. Not looking forward to next week, have to go to Leeds on Tuesday, wont get home till after 11, then another evening event in London on Thursday. And one of my thumb nails looks as if its going to come off. I thought i had finished with all that after chemo.

Catch up tomorrow ladies! DH can’t find house key mine is hidden in house in Cyprus! Managed to get hold of cleaner who holds a key and she is gong to leave it for us! Talk about stress just had a brandy! ?

I like the sound of that fish supper lovewine. We’re having mussels tonight, they were on offer in Tescos, so alovrly cheap meal (if you dont count the wine which goes into it of course!) Good that YS is coming again soon. It is always lovely to see ones offspring but a wrench when they go. Glad things seem to be going well. Hope your week is not too frantic.

Rosie, sounds as if youre going to be plunged into the deep end, no chance to just get settled back into Cyprus in a leisurely way. I hope your inspection shows that everything is ticking over nicely in spite of your absences. 120 km is a heck of a long journey to be doing every day. Must be wearing on him aswell as the car.

Our trip to the theatre was interesting. A very different  experience and one if the people we went with just hated it, which made for a fairly lively discussion over dinner. Yesterday i was doing my stint on the pier. Although the weather forecast was fairly dire in fact it was bright and sunny if breezy for the furst part of the afternoon so we were very busy. The wind got much stronger though and we were serIously thinking of closing. Slight panic at the end of the shift though. I had gone out to close up some nearby loos we are responsible for (thats a long story) and although i had told the young lass on with me where i was going, and my bag was still there and clearly visible, she didn’t say anything to the member of staff who came to close up. So i get back and the place is in darkness. Fortunately OH arrived to collect me, we drove down to the office and just caught the staff member as she was about to drive off. She was very apologetic, unlike the young lass! After all that excitement today was supposed to be a quiet day, preparing for my trip to Leeds tomorrow in the morning and Qi Gong this afternoon. However GS off school having been sick yesterday so spent the morning there- other GPS did the afternoon-then Qi Gong cancelled. So had my quiet afternoon anyway. Broadchurch tonight. Hooray!

Morning Ladies,

It a very grey day here this morning. Rosie I am glad you managed to get the hot water heater fixed, there is nothing like heating it up in a kettle! How are the dressing changes going, hopefully not for too much longer.

Lovewine egg and chips or boiled egg and toast are one on my guilty secrets when I am at a loss of what to eat, sometimes you just cant be bothered and its fine just to go with it. Unfortunately I don’t have anyone to cook for me but do usually eat out at least three times a month sometimes more, I find it very relaxing and sociable, rather than me dashing about in the kitchen. I usually decide what we will be eating in the morning before going to work then don’t fancy what I have when I get in from work :womanfrustrated:

Gosh what a terribly stressful time you had with your bag Joan, sounds like the sort of thing I dream about then wake up in a state, all panicked, only Monday morning I woke up sweating and stressed, I was on holiday on an island somewhere with my YD and there was a hurricane coming the holiday company had been advised to evacuate the island so we all gathered in a large square to await instructions and YD needed the loo, everyone moved of in all directions, I did not hear in the din where we was meant to go and of course would not go anywhere without YD anyway, I was calling out her name but did not find her, then I woke up in a real mess.

I have two hospital appointments this morning, so I am not really sure when I will be able to get into work hopefully before lunch, I have 4 patients booked in to see me from 12.30 onwards! I have already had a member of staff texting me at 7.10am this morning that the GP had forgotten her log in to the clinical system. I cannot do anything remotely but it is like other members of staff have no common sense at all, and need to take instructions on everything :womanmad: :womanfrustrated:

Have a good day Ladies, I hope it brightens up a bit outside x

Good morning ladies, I do have most of today off thank goodness!? Going into town for zoo supplies and also some new cream wallpaper ! OH is going to paper a " feature" wall which is 2 alcoves and above fireplace over weekend, but first we have to strip off the old dark gloomy paper?
Rosie , I hope you can get some sunny day photos next week, people watch A Place in the Sun etc and probably think it’s all wonderful , am sure it is mostly but can have its problems! So the competition must be quite fierce, but at least yours has the advantage of being well maintained , flowers and baskets definitely make a difference too?? good luck with it all and the Dentist today?!!
Wildpurl, enjoy your weekend , expect you are ready for a rest now !
Cassie, are you having GS this weekend, hope the weather stays nice for us all!
Joan , expect the pier will become busier now the better weather is on its way!
Have a lovely weekend everyone .

Had a really hectic week. Leeds was fine, although very late back. Had hoped to have a lazy wednesday morning before going over to the grandchildren  but having discovered that my tape recorder hadnt worked instead spent it typing up my notes, firtunately very detailed before they became indecipherable. Wish id learnt shorthand. Thursday another long day, though enjoyed a couple of hours at another exhibition and buying different nail varnish, which i am currently trying out) en route! So not all work. But it was a very poignant event, a memorial lecture in honour of an ex colleague who sadly died of cancer last year. The tributes were lovely though.

glad to hear you all succumb to quick meals sometimes. I think we might be on the egg and chips tonight dince i  havent had time to go to the shops. Busy weekend ahead too, day school in Bristol on Neolithic burial rites (really gerky but boning up, no pun intended, for our trip to the Orkneys in September), sunday a friend is coming to lunch. No idea what to give her, shes a very good cook so it cant be egg and chips).

Rosie, its great that your abdominal wound is healing so well. As you say, the other one is in a really awkward place, hope you get some progress there too. And that the dentist has managed to so something with your tooth.  Well done on the driving. It sounds like you were prepared for a fairly low valuation on your house but no doubt you hoped for something better, especially since you have done a lot to it and maintained it to a high standard, Are rental properties fairly plentiful in the area? Ive never heard the term coptic storm. I have only heard the word used for a firm of christianity in Egypt.

Lovewine, what an awful shock for your dogwalking friends son and his girlfriend and family. I do hope the tumour is benign and that they can remove/shrink it because sadly even benign tumours can have effects on brain function. My husbands cousin, now 60, was diagnosed with one when she was 18 and unfortunately, since it cannit be removed she has had to live with the  effects. So cruel.

Cassie, how did the hospital appts go? Your colleagues clearly depend on you, which says a lot about you, even though you wish they used their own sense a but more… Your dream sounds horrible, i wonder what prompted it? Hope it was a one-off.

Wildpurl, hope you have had a good week and have enjoyed your day off.

Morning Ladies,

All went well at the hospital at both appointments, the first one at 10.30 was Gynae for the post menopausal bleeding which has not re-occurred so they were happy to discharge me the scan was normal, I was kept waiting for a good while and asked when I was likely to be seen because I had another appointment with the breast surgeon at 11.50, luckily the Gynae consultant heard me say this and said come with me and he saw me immediately then proceeded to insist on carrying my rather large notes over to the other clinic and booking me in! I was seen within 5 minutes, it just goes to show they must have pushed me forward on the list because the consultant had personally come to the second clinic with me. I got back to work and had four patients waiting to see me before lunch in my admin clinic before lunch and starting on any of my usual work so it did end up being a very busy day.

I am hoping to meet lo with my dog walking friend in a while and we may go to the cinema later, I am a bit spoiled for choice YD wants to see “Hidden figures”, my friend wants to see  “Time of their lives” and we have been recommended the “Viceroys House” by a colleague.

I went to GS school yesterday, he had a special assembly where his year made a presentation about space he had already done this project in his previous school apparently. All of the children read poems about the various planets in the solar system mostly in groups of five, GS was a meteor, he stood on stage and read his poem on his own and also moved across the stage while reading, I was impressed with his patience sitting there, before the presentation whilst getting all the children in place and after while the head of year asked various children about their work and mentioned various awards for good work. It has been a struggle in the past for GS to join in with group activities and more than anything he looked so please with himself, grinning from ear to ear. Golden learner of the week apparently has been earned for this weeks work, which will be mentioned next week.

Our local train line has recently re-opened so the journey back from ED and GS was much quicker last night which is a bonus. I am also one pound below my pre York weight so at least things are going in the right direction.

What a pain with all the dust and problems with the car Rosie, glad to hear your tooth is now sorted out now though dentistry is always really expensive my crown that was just put in about 5 months ago cost £350 and apparently was not successful in the dentists words could come loose again any time! I have been saving for an implant but don’t fancy it to be honest, I have sen a couple on these horror story programmes about procedures that have gone wrong. My other teeth are pretty good the one in question is right next to my top two front teeth, so I would look like pirate if it was missing.

Really shocking for the young girl and her family lovewine, keep us posted. Good luck with the new wallpaper, I am sure it will make such a difference and really lift and brighten the room.

Joan you certainly have been busy, pity about your recorder, I don’t have the shorthand skill either, it is a dying skill, youngsters will not even have heard of it, I take all the minutes of meetings longhand but keep them brief if possible and make notes of important points as we go along then try to type them up while the meeting is still fresh in my mind, that has to be good enough I am afraid, otherwise someone else is welcome to the job, its not one I enjoy.

YD’s contract with Virgin has sadly come to an end, maybe the dream was connected to that, she does not seem to phased by it and has been on several interviews and registered with several agencies, she is off to Tenerife with he BF on Thurs, but subconsciously it could be what the dream was all about.

Have a good weekend xx

How was the salted caramel tea loaf Lovewine. I love salted caramel chocolate and SC icecream, but dont fancy SC tea. Do you drink it or dud you get it just for the loaf? Hope OHs back has improved and you are no longer having to do the TLC and that your lip has recovered. The room looks lovely though so worth it. Its not surprising youre feeling angry with the world with wrhat has happened to these two young people. I think we are probably particularly affected by these things now, maybe even because we have been lucky and come through it, a kind of survivor guilt.

Cassie, youve had a good news week with not only the all clear from your scan but also  GS doing so well. And you’ve even lost weight. Well done you. I hope YD also has success on the job front.

wildpurl,  hope things will become less frantic at work now you gave a new project manager. At least you have an enjoyable-and productive weekend to recharge your batteries and get your gardening production underway. Our lawn badly needs cutting, maybe next weekend.

Rosie, youve certainly been keeping the skype lines busy. Its such an amazing service. It must have been so hard for families to keep in touch in the past with only expensive phone calls. Hope your car is now sorted and you are pleased with your eyebrow shaping. Good luck with the primary inspection. Do you only get styes when you are in Cyprus?

The day school on Saturday was interesting but i think i came away more confused than before. The tutor obviously knew his stuff but seemed to think he had to show us every site he knew so i just drowned in detail. and since many of them were in Wales, with unpronouncable names, and he didn’t label them on his slides, it was rather frustrating. Sunday was quite relaxing, apart from a bit of a panic about not being able to get all the ingredients for lunch locally on Saturday evening so OH had to shoot out to the nearest Waitrose, which didnt open until 11, so a bit tight. Slept badly last night though because only spotted a voicemail from my brother (who doesnt often ring) at 11 last night. He started with dont worry, then there was an undecipherable bit, followed by, will you be coming up. Relieved to discover this morning it was only about a date for a christening!  At Qi gong today the teacher told us about a point in the centre of the palm called the palace of anxieties. I certainly spent some time there last night. Tomorrow im in London again doing another group interview, so hoping the tape works this time. Quite pleased with myself though because managed to get split tickets which means i can travel back in the evening at a reasonable time for very little more than cheap rate rather than having to hang around Paddington for a couple of hours.
