Welcome jos, this is a great, supportive group of ladies, you will find it very helpful!
I totally agree with the first contact point for questions etc, I don’t have a breast care nurse either, I ask any questions at time of chemo with my lovely nurse who gives it to me, but in in the time I between wouldn’t know who to ask- I have picked up all help and support from this wonderful forum.
Rosie, hope you can get answers soon and all goes well for next session! And you too Jackie, hope everything is ok with bloods.
Kirstie your caravan sounds like it’s going to be such fun, bet you will enjoy kitting it out too with all little personal touches of your own, do you know where your first trip will be yet? Joan hope your meeting went well.i echo too Louise your experience of thing changing in treatment all of the time, it really throws us, don’t think medical profession take that on board- your chickens sound delightful!! Booksandwine good you are feeling more empowered , you sound very much In control today and long may it last.
All other ladies hope you are ok too!
Could I ask you ladies if any of you have had pain when going to the loo like peeing razor blades/glass, have an appt at g.ps in the morning , bloody fed up with doctors and hospitals now!
Hi Lovewine I was told that FEC can irritate your bladder so drink lots. Sounds like you have an infection, drink Cranberry juice and lots of water and see your GP Sorry but trip to the doc and you will soon be OK Chin up xx
Thanks Louise! Will start on the cranberry juice, another bloody side effect of FECing !! X
FEC ing marvellous …NOT !!
Yes the things we have to put up with!! Will be glad to see the back of Fec. . X
Thanks rosie! All the best for your treatment too! Xx
Is it just me or is this fec’ing taking the p1ss ! ?
No worries Rosie just let me know xx
Lovewine just a thought shouldn’t you call the chemo emergency line because infections and FEC don’t go well and u don’t want any more worries or set backs
Yes was thinking the same thing! Am monitoring temperature which is ok ( fingers crossed) , really don’t want a trip to Leicester royal infirmary tonight , so am guzzling cranberry juice and water like mad and peeing for England!! So will see, xx
Hi Lovewine
I know its a pain but you would be better calling the emergency line just incase your temp increases throughout the evening. They may tell you to see doc tomorrow if you dont have a temp but have to agree about getting it checked out xx
Sorry Lovewine , we posted at the same time, keep an eye on it x
Thanks everyone! Carry on peeing I think!!
Definitely taking the FEC ing pee tee hee x
Hi ladies, relieved to report no water infection- have an irritation around external ’ ladies area!’ , I feel like everything is an irritation at the moment, let alone ’ down below!’ Oh the joys of Fec.
Rosie hope everything is going ahead ok with you? And you too Jackie - hope you will be not delayed for next chemo. Xx
Hi Jackie and Rosie! At least you both went ahead with treatment, sorry Jackie you fainted- I Also get very anxious at hospital so my lovely receptionist has so far booked me in so same time with same chemo nurse as a continuation thing which does help! Rosie you can see the end in sight not too far away now- well done- not long now until your sons wedding!! What a lovely day that is to look forward too, I am also looking at surgery in the same time frame as you. I haven’t been given anything for waterworks problem, just to drink lots of clear fluids to dilute the pee!! It isn’t quite so painful at least today.x
I was told I was going to have a lumpectomy at first, but then told recently it will probably be a mastectomy because I am quite small busted there would be a big ’ crater ’ after surgery which would be hard to fill!! So mastectomy with reconstruction using muscle fro my shoulder looks likely- with you on having both removed as I am worried it would develop in the other one too- couldn’t face that thought!!
Yes I was hoping for same thing!! Not sure I like the sound of shoulder muscle! Ouch!!
Hi everyone
Glad everyone managed to have the treatment today, im on the dreaded steroids tonight ready for treatment tomorrow. I have asked for emend this time, but my onc said he will have to get authorisation and ill find out tomorrow if I can have it !! Rosie the Paclitaxel is easier on the heart. I quickly checked the Macmillan site, if you go onto the homepage and click on treatments it takes you onto every type of chemo, there are 50 types !!
Just for info I am regularly on the younger ladies FB page, it is for under 45’s and its great. They discuss fertility and general issues for eg surgery and impact on younger children. If anyone would like to join let me know.
There is a support group as well for any age but it is not as busy, but still a great set of ladies.
Hope you ladies have minimal side effects that had the chemo today.
Take care
Louise x
