Anyone due to start chemo April 14??

Glad you are home safe and sound and the trip went well x

I had round 2 yesterday with a 20% reduction so hopefully I won’t need a hospital stay this time :0)

The injection for my immune system which I have to do today is called neulasta, I just have the one injection

I also have some lactolose x

Hi seeking some advice. Had my partner shaved my head this am as hair loss was huge yesterday. I don’t feel like me. Originally I thought I could have gone short and donated ponytail but it was too short in hindsight I think a shorter cut would have been easier.

Q has anyone been given or have advice re scalp care.

Q wig I got mine trimmed yesterday but she did not thin. I will wear for a few days think I just need to get used to it but has anyone needed or had there’s thinned.

Rosie glad your home safe. Kirsty glad things are better for you. Best to all

A very early. goodmorning from Cyprus. kirstie do hope you have a better time this session. I have been awake since 2.19 when my saline drip finished and the alarm went off! Have any of you noticed slight lack of bladder control in the first few days? By the time I had got to the bathroom I had a slight leak! The go cake sounds good where will I find the recipe. I need to catch up on all your threads om my laptop when I get home I find it difficult on the phone.I had the long awaited results from biopsy yesterday . The oncologist made an initial mistake as he was told on the phone it was negative he rushed back an hour later when he received. the fax saying it was Her 2 positve so I have to have heceptin! Still coming to terms with this . It will now delay surgery until late Aug early Sept Catch up with you all later. xxxxx

Ah Rosie I’m sorry you’ve had a set back stay strong my love, was this a new biopsy they have done or from an old one ? Sorry can’t help you with the go cake recipe but would find it useful myself, I would try and search it for you but also on phone as daughter has borrowed laptop will see if I can search it xx

Hi Suzie this was the original biopsy fom March 13th! Hope you are battling along. x

Hey Rosie just search go cake in search bar and it comes straight up sorry can’t copy and paste from phone it’s got loads if dried fruit in which I hate but gonna make one and give it a go xx

Thanks Suzie x

Morning Wildpurl thanks for your comments. I have written down the recipe for go cake sounds scrummy my mum used to use All Bran to make malt loaf with when I was a child. I woyld rather deal with constipation naturally if poss. Hope your hot cross buns work! x

Hi everyone

Im day 8 now and feeling much more my old self, really struggled the first few days with nausea and fatigue. Tbh I slept on and off for the first 3 days…I didnt have any bone pain from the injection in my tummy on the second day and was only told to do it once, is anyone doing it daily. I am now on  two separate courses of antibiotics,  is that the same for everyone?  Rosie I think your on the same regime as me, TAC ? You are having yours every fortnight though while mine is 3 weekly. Having a spoonful of manuka honey every day to help with blood count and mouth issues, was advised to try and swill it round my mouth.

Take care

Louise xx

Hey Lou glad you’re feeling a bit better. My hospital don’t give the injections as standard but my bloods hasn’t recovered enough on Tuesday before round 2 on Wednesday so they gave me and injection then and I have yo inject myself for 5 days from Sunday and will need to do this each time now ( I’m on 3 weekly fec) they they gave me embed to help with extreme nausea and I felt fine on Wednesday but had cold sweats all of Wednesday night and felt dreadful yesterday but feel pretty normal today and am off to garden centre for some fresh air.

Hope everyone else who has had round 1 or 2 this week are doing ok xx

Good morning ladies,Had round 2 Thur so felt awful in the night again - think it was ever so slightly better than last time but not much! Picked up a bit better yesterday, managed to eat & have a nap. Just having a little glass of milk & a rich tea biscuit now. Roll on day 6!
Books & wine the only scalp care I was given from my hairdresser was to apply a moisturizer with a really high SPF in. And think I typed in on the bcc search bar for a bit more info.
Glad your doing okish after round 2 Suzie 68. How’s the hair goung? Mines been getting a bit dry & was a bit sore Thur but not since.
Well done Joan 47 getting you’re hair shaved! Bet you feel better for it & wow if you went au natural for round 2!
Hope you’re feeling better after the injections ashley97? But glad the chemo was OK for you)
Glad you had a nice time away Rosie 14. I am her2 positive too so will be on herceptin for a year starting on my 4th chemo I think. You’ve not had much chance for it to sink in have you bless you. But like wildpurl says the herceptin will target the her2 receptor & stop it from growing & will reduce the risk of cancer returning. I don’t think there are any more s/e’s than we get from the chemo - just that they will monitor you’re heart regularly.
Hope everyone else doing well, catch up soon xxx

Morning EAM, I have no idea why I am awake because I did loads yesterday, maybe I’m a bit over tired. Hair pretty much mine existent and seriously look like cancer patient without cap, well and with cap to be honest lol. Still haven’t worn my wig and don’t think I will, it just doesn’t feel right for me. Hope you are all feeling well and get to enjoy the weekend. I’m going to have a go at making the ‘go’ cake today before things get too bad, thanks fir posting booklover saves me searching for it again sxxx

Wildpurl. Just to say so sorry to hear about your mother in law. Sending you best wishes and also for a safe trip. Sending you wishes.

Hi hope all you ladies had a good day. Feel like I gave something back today I got asked Thursday to be part of medical tests for senior doctors as part of Their exam to be an oncologist. Basically spent the morning being examined by 9 doctors and them finding the lump and their prognosis. Hope I helped

Yesterday wore wig out in public. Today went out when I hope home to the mall with headscarf. No one stared it’s just my mind over matter re looking different.

Oh Jackie so sorry to hear you’ve been in hospital. I hope the last time. This bleeping thing does knock you around. But you have my support.

Glad your home tale care. Re scarf. I recommend the skull head cap first put in triangle and lay the main triangle lowish on your forehead. Then you can tie quite tightly the ends together I cover over my ears. I think practice. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Hereyeliner or eyelinerher can’t recall too later at night now is on you tube and shows great tips re scsrft.

Look after you.

Hi Jackie

Really sorry to hear that you have been in hospital,  but glad your back home and can enjoy a week some days before your next round. Xxx

Hi everyone, I too need to apologise for not posting. I am really sorry to hear about your mother in law wildpurl, and hope the journey is ok for you. Like jackie I am in hospital, I am neutrapenic sepsis. I have been here since thursday, they have said I have an upper respiratory infection, so on strong iv antibiotics, and just to add to it my liver isnt functioning properly so they are trying to find the cause of that. They have told me until my white blood count increases significantly i will be staying here in isolation But I know I am in the best place (hopefully) I just really hope this was just bad luck that I caught a cold and not going to happen each time. when I first came to a&e under orders from chemo nurse, the general doc in a & e gave me chest xray checked my blood and said that he felt I was coping ok and my chest was clear so I could go home  at that point I had a temp of 38.9. when I rang chemo nurse they told me to come straight back. Sometimes you feel like you have to tell the docs what to do. Hope everyone is having a good weekend, weather looks nice so far today. Ashley xxx

Hi Jackie and Ashley sorry to hear you’ve both been unwell and in hospital hope you feel better soon sxx

Hi all,

First time posting anywhere like this. I started 6 x FEC on April 1st (should’ve been funny but it really wasn’t)

After 1st chemo it felt like my body was taking the list of side effects as a challenge and trying to tick them all off. None of them have been overwhelming but debilitating nevertheless.

I’ve had 2 sessions with the cold cap but am shedding lots of hair and reckon I’ve lost about 50% of it although I have a full covering, just very thin. Before my chemo on Tuesday the nurse said it wasn’t worth me continuing and that all my hair would be gone by this weekend but I was stubborn and still had the cold cap. Has anyone else been advised to stop using it as I’m a little confused now. I’ve read on various sites that people often have extreme thinning but keep going with the cold cap. My hair was long and straight, all the way down my back and having it cut to shoulder length (after 30 years) was devastating enough so the idea of keeping some hair, even if I had to wear hats or bandanas, appealed to me. Now I don’t know what to do
