Anyone due to start chemotherapy in September 2015

Hello Sarah
Good luck tomorrow love, you will be fine, as Suzy says take everything they give you, and buy a thermometer
Carmia x x

Hi ladies,

ive been reading your posts but not really posted anything. I’m going on Thursday for my 2nd round of fec/t and I’ve been ok since the first one.  I had a bit of nausea, nearly no hair left but think the worst thing is the mouth ulcers and the awful taste.

I did attend the look good, feel better clinic today which was very good.  The little goody bag is amazing, it’s full of skin care and make up which is Lancôme, Clinique, Estée Lauder etc.  it was a really enjoyable afternoon.

its great to read all your posts and I look forward to reading all the updates and thought it was time I joined in. It’s difficult sometimes to take in that I have been diagnosed with cancer but the forum has helped me alot

xx

Hi everyone new ladies and all the friends who are due to start next round. Are feeling better or are in the early yucky days. Love to all. Day 6 sorted out my acid reflux and have higher dose anti acid. Feeling a lot better but must remember to eat little and often. Tending to be starving after last six days but if I eat too much I tend to get the runs or poorly tummy. Hope ti walk the dogs tm on my own and went with hubby to Sainsbury td. So many people about. Is everyone on holiday? Xx

Hi vegasgirl perhaps its your hospital policy to use Pick line to save veins x

Hi vegasgirl
I royals go with the line, I’m having mine done day before my next treatment, it just is better when it comes to chemo day and bloods day.
They got my cannula in but said I didn’t have a lot of choice, good luck love x x

Royals?? *Would* sorry predictive text x x

Hi lovely people. I have been advised to get a line. I have really go veins but from my job , I know that the chemo damages them in the short term and anything that makes it easier to continue with chemo is good. Will be organising with the nurses, for my line to be fitted. TC, glad your reflux is easing. The Omeprazole has really helped and my slightly husky voice is going. Just getting flask of Ginger, Honey and Lemon tea to go with me. Does anyone have suggestions about alternatives to Ginger? I have always disliked it. Fresh Ginger is a little easier to use but the taste is still as horrible. :frowning: xx

Suzy ginger & puking got too linked in my head after FEC 1 to drink it.  Nurse suggested fresh mint tea instead & it worked. Carmia my wound started swelling/pulling after 1st chemo & nurse said it means chemo is working. Not sure how she worked that out but she said it’s quite common & not to worry. xx

Thanks Bibi, I’ll try the mint tea. I have lots of mint in pots. Finding my herb garden to be very useful.
Caffy, the first few days can be rough with awful nausea. Drink lots of fluids and eat little and often if you can. Rest when you need it. Take your meds. You can get through it. It varies for each person. Keep healthy in the meantime. xx

Hi Caffy that sounds about right. And spots nobody mentioned spots. Turning in to a teenager. Xx

I think I feel normal today (for me anyway), I still have the throat thing and wound still mildly sore, but I definitely feel better.
My man says I am getting back to normal, or at least moaning like normal.
Day 7, and I’ve lost 3 lbs, eating well though, don’t know if that’s right.
Suzy I am going to try the ginger mint and honey tea sounds lovely, and thanks for the advice re wound.
Welcome caffy good luck love you will be ok though, once you get the first one under your belt you realise your imagination is far worse than the actual events.
Have a good day ladies
Much love x x x

Good morning ladies and welcome new ladies. Well it’s a day of appointments today. I guess I will get my meds in advance for Monday. My hospital see how you go with the first one before you get a pic line. Hope the ladies with se feel better today. Big hugs xxx

Morning all! Good luck to those with appointments today! Hope your hubby is ok Sarah and doesn’t pass anything onto you - I suppose we’re getting to that time of year ? I’m paranoid if anyone in the house sneezes!
Carmia I had a funny throat from day 6 onwards - got checked at docs and they said all looked ok but important to keep a check on temp. They did take some blood but all was ok. I wonder if it’s the way I react to low immunity?? Just keep an eye on temp. Glad you’re feeling well apart from that. Have s good day all. Xxxx

Hi Carmia right back at you my hubby says my moaning is getting better too. Booked flu jab for 6th October. Day before next chemo. Hope it will be ok xx Love to everybody. Xx

Hi ladies! Just back from my second chemo this afternoon and I feel okay so far, had a different anti sickness drug so hopefully this will stop the awful nausea I had first time. Am determined to learn from the things that happened three weeks ago so am stocked up with pineapple lollies, polo mints, lemon and ginger tea and cream crackers for snacking! Also have a stack of stuff to prevent constipation! My hair is well on its way out now, looks v thin and patchy so time to get it clipped off. It’s my husbands 60 th birthday party this Friday so hoping to glam up in my wig! Really hope I’ll feel up to partying! Hope all the ladies with their appointments today are good too? Another one ticked off!!

Hi all back from my afternoon of appointments. Surgeon said was healing well but he said he can sort the excess skin after I have finished chemo. Saw oncologist, asked my list of questions, I will be having the injections. I then had bloods, booked next once appointment and away we go for Monday. Won’t get my drugs until then xxx

Chemo went ok. No probs with cannula. Got a big hug from oncologist. Just feel a little queasy but not sick. Reduced dose seems to be working. Have even managed to eat some pineapple. Taking it really easy. Felt a bit weepy during injections but keep thinking 2 down. Ange well done. Lots of hiugs coming your way. xx

Hi Sarah, I don’t know but she said steroid and anti sickness before I start then some and antihistermune in the canular. Then after some sickness and some injections to boost white blood cells. She didn’t give me names. I will find out on Monday xx

Woke up in the middle of the night. Just want too say. Love to all. Special hug Suzy B for getting emotional xx

Welsh girl Will you let me know how you get on sickness wise over the next few days please? I too was really sick after FEC 1 & they have promised me it will be different next time. I have drug called Emend now, which everyone raves about, but I must admit to being quite anxious about FEC 2, which is due on Monday. I just don’t think I can go through 15 hours of vomit again. Any reassurance gratefully received! Thanks. Sarah sorry to hear about your man & fingers crossed you don’t get it. I see lots of people are having the flu jab. Have your oncs said to do that, no-one has mentioned to me?? xx
