Anyone else had Chemo then OP then Rads

I finished my Chemo 7weeks ago and I am waiting on a date for my Operation.
I saw my consultant today and she has told me I will need full lympnode clearance as well as lumpectomy.she has also told me I will get 5 weeks rads .
This means my treatment won’t be over in time to go my October holiday to tenerife. I asked if I could not wait until after my holiday to have rads as they told me I will need at least 4 weeks after Op before rads can begin.
I have looked forward to this holiday all year it has been booked since before my diagnosis and I have mentioned it many times and have been told all the way through not to cancel as treatment should be over by then.We have booked a large luxury villa and were supposed to be going with my friend and her children as well. I feel as if I will be letting everyone down we were all so looking forward to it.
This is what has kept me going and now I realise I may not be able to go I feel sick.
The chemo has been so successful she said there possibly will only be scar tissue left. If I still have another of couple of weeks before my Op what differance would an extra couple of weeks make then I could have my rads after my holiday.
Has anyone else waited more than 9 weeks after Chemo to get Op.

Hi I was dx last October day before my wedding and was due to fly to Spain day after but was asked to cancel to start chemo straight away so I know what it feels like.I finished chemo in mid March and had WLE and full node clearance on 15th April.I had booked to go away on 30 th June and had rads before I went,in fact they finished the Friday before.I did ask if I could leave rads until after hol but told they would not be effective if left any longer, however instead of 20 treatments they ammended the dosage so Ionly had 15,they understood how important this was as it was my honeymoon. They like to wait for the wound to heal before they start.but mine had not fully healed but they worked around it. Iwas just under strict orders to keep out of the sun etc.

Hope things work out for you

I had my last chemo on 31st march, mastectomy 28th April and started 15 rads on 7th July, which is about 10 weeks after op. The impression I got was that there was no urgency for rads as the chemo and op had removed all cancer and the rads was therefore more of an “insurance” thing. I guess all hospitals/oncologists are different.

Hope you get your holiday.
