Hi everyone. Can anyone shed any light on how long people wait for results? I had a mammogram and core biopsy two weeks ago and the results showed a papillary lesion (whatever that is). I also had a suddenly bleeding nipple. The biopsy was inconclusive and they suggested an excisional biopsy which I had two days later. I was told the results would be in last Friday but they weren’t in. I then got told they would be ready yesterday, but they weren’t in and now have been told ‘hopefully Friday’ - that is now 10 nights of waiting which is driving me nuts. I assume the worst. Any advice/similar scenarios? Thanks (I am 35)
Hi Ruth,
myself and most people on this site will agree with you, the waiting and not knowing is horrible.
My wait for biopsy results was 14 days, I was out of my mind with worry.
I have been diagnosed with a high grade invasive bc, then wait for scans to identify how far it has spread.
Tomorrow I get the results of CAT and Bone Scans.
The scans and follow up appointment, were organised by my husband, or I would probably still be waiting.
Unfortunately you need to be pushy, I understand how busy all clinics are having worked for the NHS in the past.
Please try not to assume the worst, Good luck I hope you will have good news very soon.

Thanks for getting back. Did you have an excisional biopsy too? My problem is the annoying thing of feeling whisked into hospital for an op within 3 days after the initial mammogram and core biopsy and then hearing nothing. DO they ever lose results do you think?
I forgot to say good luck with your results. I go from forgetting all about it and getting on with something else to having images of boobs and consultant’s words buzzing round my head!! An annoying way to start the big summer hols (I’m a teacher!) Good luck again x
Hi Ruth,
I only had core biopsy and fine needle aspiration to axillary lymph.
Hopefully, they don’t loose results, but maybe there are delays in communication between departments.
Waiting is like a roller coaster of raw emotion.
I wish you well and will be thinking of you.
I hope you have a well earned holiday .Thank-you for your kind wishes.
Take care

Nice to know there is so much support out there. You all seem like such wonderful, brave people. I am feeling quite well now I know so I am off to Canada for holiday and will have my op when I get back. Will the wide excision take a bit of recovery from do you think? The surgical biopsy only hurt for a couple of days after (although the general anaestheic seems to take it out of you) but it is still a bit uncomfortable now if I try trotting on my horse! I am only having a couple of lymph nodes out. Thanks again,
R

Hi Ruith,
I had WLE and sentinel node biopsy with 4 or 5 nodes removed in Jan this year. It was a bit sore to start with but not as bad as I expected and I came off painkillers after about 4 days. I wasn’t allowed to drive for 2 weeks although my consultant said this was more to do with insurance than the physical side of things. My WLE was on my left side and I am right handed so I got back into housework, ironing (great!) pretty quickly. One thing I would advise is keep doing the exercises as was good at first and then lapsed and had some cording which hurt a little, as soon as I continued the exercises it went. The best one I found was standing sideways to the wall and walking fingers up the wall as high as possible and then down to shoulder level again.
Hope you have a great hol. We’ve been skiing to Whistler and visited Vancouver - it’s a fantastic country!
Take Care
