Anyone else with liver secondaries?

Hiya

Following Allie’s message, not sure if some of us should get there a little earlier, as 1pm is prime lunch time in the City, and although never been to Cafe Rouge at St. Pauls (well not sober anyway), think tables might be very sparse. So was thinking if anyone could get there earlier about 11, maybe we should and we will all sit and wave when we think we see Allie arrive and see how many times we look like mad women!!! Not sure, what does everyone think … If want to wait til after 1, so can all arrive together is fine with me too, but as said before, might not leave long for anyone having to leave by 4. Or maybe 3 hours is enough !!! Oh I don’t know … come on ladies, whaddya reckon.

Gotta dash, as gotta wake up Jack and then go and get Sophie and friend from school and off to a play thingy, as got my friends daughter all day today (as my friends dads funeral) so NO WAY can I stay in all day with then 2 and Jack!!!

Hope you are all ok though and will catch up later with you.

Love
Dawn

Hi All,
I think Dawn has a point about getting there earlier to bag a table before the lunchtime rush. I can just see the time flying past- we’ve got so much to talk about. I could probably get there for 11. Mr Wallace sounds a laugh!
Im suffering from flu! I thought it was the herceptin side effects when I woke up shaking and shivering in the night with painful limbs, but have been in bed all day trying to get warm. (Except for forcing myself out to see Occupational Health lady where I sat and cried cos I felt so lousy). I’m relieved if it is flu - I was so upset when i thought it was side-effects and I’d have them every 3 weeks.
Love Jacquie x

Hi Everyone

Jacquie, sorry you feeling so pants - there is so much of this flu/cough/cold bug going round that seems to be going in circles. Hope you feel better very soon. I have to say, that I am feeling lots better on Herceptin than did on chemo, as obviously not attacking the good white cells, which is a relief. Still get tired, but put some of that down to the muppets, but apart from that don’t feel drained and feel pretty good really. Not sure if had any side effects from herceptin, as had permanent snotty/runny nose since November!

Got my 2nd one tomorrow - so wish me luck!! Got to be there for 8.30, but least gets over and done with.

Well ladies, can you all post and say what you think about next thursday. Meeting place is Cafe Rouge at St Pauls - time, well I think if anyone can get there for 11am then that is good, so can get a table before the hoards arrive. I could get there for that time too, as long as someone else can. Don’t wanna look like nobby no mates!!! Let us know what you all think as soon as poss, so can finalise, then can sort out how to recognise, but like Mr Wallace, but he will be late, unless Allie wants to come along for 30 mins prior to trip to dentist!!! LOL

Anyway, hope everyone is well and Jacquie feels better soon.

Take care

Hi

I can get to cafe rouge for 11 Am on the 17th - we could grab a table then and see how we get on order coffees etc and then see how we go, really like the idea of mr wallance! Maybe we should book the table as Wallace. Allie are you OK with that ? you can come on from dentist?

I will wear my red shawl- kind of oversized - keeps me warm - kids next door asked if I was from Africa when I was wearing it- still trying to work that one out!

Morning is slightly better for me as I tend to get knackered in the afternoon and a bit overwrought and a bit tearful by the end of the day this round is definitely better than last - zometa hasn’t dragged me down as much this time…even writing this from work so must go!

Dawn - know what you mean about running nose,

love
cathy

Jacquie hope you are feeling a bit better- nasty to get flu, shame you had to drag yourself out to see occupational health person - was that any help at all?

Thanks friends, feeling quite a bit better today so thinking maybe it was the Herceptin effects after all! Oh crap. I felt soooo awful. The shivering and shaking was so bad i kept waking up with a jerk (that was just my husband!) and just had to stay in bed - and my bones really hurt all day.
Can people just confirm if they’re planning to come next Thurs? so we know how many of us there are. And is there anyone else out there who would like to join us and hasn’t dared to say so? If you’ve got secondaries and read these posts then I guess you’re invited!
Yes, lets book the table as Wallace. I can be there for 11.
love Jacquie

Hi all

Sounds good to me - I can also be there for 11am (or very close - haven’t yet checked out train times from Guildford). Think the idea of booking the table as Wallace is great (and hopefully I’ll be able to spot you in your red shawl, Cathy if you are there before me). Still think you should bring Mr Wallace though, Allie - shame for him to miss out on the trip! Hope you are ok about joining us that bit later. Looking forward to it - shame everyone won’t be able to make it - but am also more than a little apprehensive (as I guess most of us are to some degree!).

Welcome Jan - glad that you feel able to introduce yourself and that you obviously haven’t been put off by our ramblings & rants etc! (Made me wonder how many other people were reading this thread regularly - as Jacquie says, you’d be more than welcome to join us either in the cyber world or next week). Can understand why you feel responsible for the next generations though, Jan, even if it is totally illogical. I wonder about my 2 daughters (and my younger sister) but there isn’t a strong family history like yours. One daughter would quite like to go for genetic testing but the other doesn’t - not sure how to resolve that one.

Hope you are feeling better Jacquie, be it the Herceptin or flu. Hopefully it is a bout of the flu rather than the Herceptin and you will soon be on the mend. What was the outcome of the Occ Health meeting? Are they being supportive in terms of letting you decide how to return to work?

Been feeling a bit overwhelmed the last few days - now CHristmas is over, the operation really is looming and there have been a number of people in contact with me to organise various hospital appts including more MRI scans. So everything seems to be focussing on the operation date and nothing really for afterwards - not good. Funny how I could have been so worried in November that it wasn’t going to be possible to operate and now I’m just so scared of actually having the operation! I’ve also got this real drive myself (but not the energy) to get lots of things sorted before I go in - even cleaning the windows which I hardly ever do! I am someone though who feels the need to spring clean the house before we can go away on holiday, so think it must be something similar. Very odd when we normally live in a sort of organised mess.

Hope your 2nd Herceptin has gone ok, Dawn - have you booked your holiday yet? Am very envious.

Love to all Kay x

Hi All,
I have booked my train ticket and arrive in Euston at 10:46. Could possibly drop off Mr Wallace prior to dentist appointment but thats all dependent on whether train is on time or not! I will be probably wearing my lilac paisley bandana and am very short and wear glasses and will be carrying a gnome!
Had my first counselling appointment last Tuesday, got 6 free sessions via NHS which I was surprised at. The consellor is really nice and think it will help a lot to have someone I don’t know very well to talk to.
Just to say I have still got my runny nose/eyes 3 weeks after I have finished my chemo, its getting really annoying.
Anyway better get some work done,
Take care,
Allie

Hi All

Well my train is the 9.57 and arrives fenchurch street at 10.37, and St Pauls is about a 20 min walk or can get tube, but Bank is about 10 min walk, so will either walk from FS or grab a cab if feeling lazy, so will there about 11ish. If any of you on other website can see my pics and recognise me a little, although obviously not got that hair anymore … LOL

Allie, I still have my runny nose and eyes and it has been over 8 weeks nearly now and got permanent snotty nose too causing me to sniff a little which i hate. Sounds like your counselling session went well, I think I might look into that too.

Who is booking the table - I don’t mind doing it, just let me know and will book for 11am, under Wallace (ha ha) and say for what do you reckon 6, not sure who is coming - me, Allie, Jacquie, Kay and then who else … put your names down, the more the merrier, although I am already scared s***less!!!

Well, now I am gonna make you all jealous. Have booked our holiday - YIPPEE. Going by virgin atlantic, on March 30 until April 12, land back on 13th. Staying in a 5 bed villa, even though only the 4 of us, own pool, but part of a small gated complex, 15 mins from disney, and think 20 from sea world and wet n wild. Sorted and booked my holiday insurance through Aberdeen Insurance so just gotta sort out the car now. Oh and get Sophie new passport as hers is the baby one and doesn’t look anything like her and it runs out next January. My Dad was babbling on about the americans and saying I should get new one, but now realised it has less than a year will do this, but we are also going to scotland on 24 Jan for weekend to see hubbys family, so have to wait til we get back!!!

Am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Anyway, sorry about that, but had to tell you. Had 2nd herceptin today, and we got there 30 mins late due to traffic but I did ring them. All went ok, bit slow, but so far so good, and no side effects to moan about (did that at begining about my nose!!!).

Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well and catch up soon.

Hi Dawn

Why dont you go ahead and book the table for 11 AM …wallaces here we come.

OOh soo excited for you about your holiday, thats great. I think flying Virgin is a good idea as well - might even be helpful to you, can tell you BA has been awful in past for me!!

Off to shops now…more later,

Cathy

OK will book the table - will say for wot do you reckon - 8 people! No idea who coming, Got 5 so far, as in, me, Kay, Jacquie, Allie and Cathy.

Is it the one in Condor House, St Pauls Churchyard, got the phone number ready, so once you have agreed on the number to book for and that that is the one, will do it.

Take care all
Dawn

Am still soooooooooooooooo excited, got letter from onc today to say fit to travel!!!

Thanks for booking the table, Dawn - I’m assuming it’s the St Pauls Churchyard one as well. Can’t see it being more than 8 people but I might be wrong. I know Jen said she couldn’t make it because she’s too far away. I’ll be the one by the way with “salt and pepper” very short hair (or a funny grey/blue hat if it’s cold/raining) and glasses - unless I chicken out and wear my wig!

Think you’ll find the counselling useful, Allie - I’ve had 6 free sessions as well and now pay a contribution (£10 - 20) for any more sessions I want. It’s been great to be able to talk to someone who isn’t emotionally involved, if that makes sense.

Right - must go and rescue dinner …

Lots of love Kay x

Hi All

definitely had in mind St Pauls Church yard- Condor house- just wanted to confirm that.

Cathy

Marvellous - gonna book tomorrow morning. Am gonna do for 6 of us, as think there will be the 5 of us. Am absolutely terrified, please don’t bite me …

Take care and catch up properly tomorrow. Off to bed now.

Hi Everyone

Well have just booked the table, for Thursday 17th, at Cafe Rouge, St Pauls, under the name of Wallace for 11am, for 6 people. If more turn up we can add to it.

Will see you all there - am so very nervous you wouldn’t believe … no one is allowed to drop out!!!

Speak later

Dawn

Thanks, Dawn, for booking the table. I’m nervous too but it will be really good to meet you all, put faces to names and actually have a proper conversation!

Started with another cold this morning but seem to be fighting it off ok - how are you doing Jacquie? Are you still feeling fluey?

Love Kay x

Hi all,
Table booked? - that means it’s really going to happen then! I’m not too nervous yet, but I know on the day I’ll be shaking from head to toe. Like Dawn says, nobody’s allowed to drop out - don’t wanna be sitting there on my own!
My fluey symptoms have just turned into a cold, but I’m feeling really nauseous from the tamoxifen (I presume). Apparently it’s because you get a build up of calcium in your blood. Yesterday i went for a good walk in the hope my bones would absorb some of the calcium (like weight-bearing exercise for osteoporosis) not sure if it’s scientific but made sense to me! Feeling pretty queasy today tho and too cold/dark to go out now.
Someone else told me runny noses are because of having no hairs to stop it, so that could be it. Mine’s the same.
Kay - no wonder you’re scared. I would be too. You are a brave lady.
Back to work for me tomorrow. I’ve spoken to my lovely boss and I’m not worried at all (yet) as I won’t be doing any proper work for a couple of weeks - just meetings, emails and filling in my new diary! The problems will come when I’m expected to get on and do stuff on my own - like remembering the right words for things…
Enjoy your Sunday nights, I’m off to pack my pencil case.
love Jacquie x
ps i’m tall and will be wearing a khaki green three-quarter length coat and a shiny short brown/chestnut wig.

Just a quick message to wish you luck tomorrow Jacquie - hope the return to work goes really well! You can tell us all about it on Thursday…

K x

Hi All,
Thanks Dawn for booking the table. Looking forward to meeting you all on Thiursday, not nervous at all as I’m sure you are all lovely!
Good luck Jacksy with tomorrow, I am sure you will be fine and everyone will be lovely with you.
You girls had better keep your bugs to yourself don’t want any “Southy” bugs up here, have been doing so well so far, OH has some wierd man-flu thing but so far have not got it.
Take care
allie

Hi All

Good luck for tomorrow Jacquie and hope all goes Ok for you. As the others said, can tell us all about it on Thursday or on here tuesday!!!

I am petrified about Thursday, so so nervous as not good at meeting new people and i have not been up town for about 3 years i reckon … being a lightweight aren’t I!!!

I have no bug, but just the permanent runny nose (no nostril hairs to hold it in as chemo nurse told me - sorry if I said that above!!), but promise not to pass any southern germs on you Allie. Where are you coming from … am a bit lost where we all are. I know Kay is guildford, Jacquie is Hertfordshire, but don’t know where abouts and Cathy, no idea either. Probably told us, but as you know, are brains or at least mine is, is a bit on the mushy side!!!

See you all very soon
Love
Dawn

PS. If any of you on the other site, let me know and will pm you. Have managed to sort Jacquie out and we have emailed each other, so let us know and can swap pics etc.

Hi Chaps,
Work was grrreat! Had such a nice time. Haven’t got anywhere near doing any proper work yet, and prob won’t for a few weeks, as have meetings and training to go to and lots of admin to sort out. Spent a while sitting in front of the computer trying to remember how to log on and which of the 3 old passwords I needed! It was just great to think about something else totally different for a while. Tired this eve tho, and I only did 4 and a half hours!
Really looking forward to meeting up. Just got to get thru CT scan and another half day at work first! Oh, and going to optician tomorrow to see why my eyesight’s deteriorated so badly -probably just advancing old-age. Friday’s definitely a day of rest!
Hope you are all well
love Jx
