Hi
Was wondering if anyone has/is having rads at Derby. I’ve not had any dates yet but was wondering (in my usual manner as I’ve come to realise) what the set-up is like there. Having read a few posts from others it seems that things can vary from place to place.
Ta muchly. X

Hi SCACO I had mx, chemo and RADs at Derby Royal and am now having Herceptin there.
The staff are very nice and you can ask them stuff any time other than when they are trying to get you positioned right cos they have to shout numbers at each other. You get given a particularly fetching gown to use for the duration of your RADs, they just undo the bits they need to on the gown so your whole top half isn’t naked. They can get quite behind - a wait of half an hour wasn’t uncommon.
Get a weekly parking ticket for £9. It works out cheaper even though you won’t be having RADs on the weekend. For some reason the weekly tickets are valid for 8 days. They are valid the day you buy them and the equivalent day the following week.
Oh and I forgot the most important thing…ask about complementary therapies. You get 4 free. I had aromatherapy and reflexology
hi scaco, just finished 20 rads at derby royal. staff were great, made you feel at ease and willing to answer any questions.my first week had late afternoon apps and did have a bit of a wait of bout half hr. the last 3 weeks asked for early ones(9.30 am ish) and was usually in and out within half an hr! was a bit naughty and parked directly across the road from hosp in the lidl carpark. u get 1 1/2 hrs free parking there. took 5 mins 2 cross over road and get to rads dept. ihave my 1st complimentary treatment tomorrow so will let u know how i get on. good luck. alex xx
