I had a WLE about 4 years ago. Had my other boob reduced to match (as about 125gms was taken. Weren’t pretty but looked okay in a bra. However due to Rads I shrank and shrank, I guess over a cup size.
Decided to see what could be done… went to another ENC/Plasts suergon who suggested a banana shape graft to bottom of boob to give it alittle more “gravitas”!
Done 30th March and all went well. I thought it would be a one stop do but because he found alot of (non cancerous) rubbish in my boob which he had to remove (caused by rads) he couldn’t “finish me off”.
I now am going back to have nerves and tendons cut (to stop my boob jumping whern I cough…asthmatic so its very interesting!), nipple moved up to match other, lipo to underarm (you know ladies - that rolled up newspaper that sits there)and put into the flatish side of the graft and he said “move skin”… I think he meant reopen the top scar and stretch the skin down to my breast fold (so it isnt seen, 36DD)Im thinking if yoy can close the back with stretch when they take the section out, they can do0 the same on the front?
I can find film on Youtube (have watched all the other proceedures) and haven’t found a post here. Does anyone have experience of this and does anyone have an idea of what moving skin may mean?
Hi Blessing, I can’t help much as I had a mastectomy and immediate LD recon, I had some skin - enough to patch the hole - taken from my back along with the muscle graft and I know if they do DIEP or TRAM flaps they usually take some skin too. I wouldn’t have thought they’d be able to stretch your skin without uising implants, but I don’t know.
Hopefully this will bump you up the posting list a bit here and someone who does know will be along soon.
Many thanks for reply.
Yes the skin from the back is now on the front, just think he may have meant leaving the LD muscle put but pulling down (now its taken and healed etc) my original boob skin over the now taken graft to get rid of scar??? I’d questioned him about the scar which is a fine line but with a wide area of purplish area running its length.
No idea really but trying to understand as process in readiness for surgery in Oct.
One for thought… tipped up to mole checking session (if BC isnt going to get me, dammed sure I’ll do anything to stop another cancer getting me!). I laughingly said, "Bet you dont get to check many moles that started life on backs and now have moved to fronts… good job I didnt have a tattoo of a dragon. Would now be decapitated!
Nurse got it completely but right over specilist head… turned me oover 2 mins later and asked “what’s the scar on your back?”…
I feel Ive hit a point in my BC journey where I have to try to laugh, or life would be so heavy I’d just give up.
Love and empathy Lavender Lassie
Blessing
Thanks for the laugh… I did wonder what will happen come the day they want to do an LD flap on someone with a big tattoo on her (his?) back. Headless dragons might be the least of their worries!
As for not knowing what the back scar was after that… duh!
