Hi. I made an appointment with the physio - who is also a lymphodema specialist. I had bilateral Mx and on R side have had nodes removed. I have a dog ear under my right arm which sometimes swells and is almost like another breast…sometimes it seems to spread a bit to scar and is puckered.
Before the op the surgeon told me that dog ears can happen. It is almost a year since the op and i asked to see the physio because i was concerned that the swelling could be lymphodema…my R arm seems slightly larger than the other, but it is also my primary arm. Although i have no problem with movement of the arm.
She agreed that it was quite large and asked if anyone had ever suggested a tidy up op. I explained that no one had seen it really. Saw surgeon 10 days after op who removed dressings and said that I’d be seen in a years time at breast clinic but could ring BCN if any worries. Never mentioned it to oncologist when I see him, it is uncomfortable and she agreed that it looked as if it was…it’s kind of squashed under my upper arm…
I said that I thought they’d think that i was being fussy since they did warn me that this could happen. The left side is very neat with no swellings, she said that she would mention it to my BCN and ask her to contact me and mention it to the team.
Just wondered if anyone else had anything similar

Your situation sounds almost identical to mine. I am going in for a ‘tidy up’ on 30th April. I have a large ‘dog ear’ on the right side which looks like a breast, is really uncomfortable all the time, to the point that I have virtually given up wearing a bra and prosthesis. I have a wonderful Breast Care Nurse who has helped and supported me through my quest, and my surgeon has totally agreed to everything that needs doing. I hope you will find that you have the same support that I have.

Hi, I’m Angie, I had a double mastectomy on 25th Feb n all nodes removed from right side. Still very sore n tight feeling, left arm movement is ok but right side is awful n hurts. I’ve got awful puckering n lumps n even what looks like a huge nipple under my right armpit from surgury. Can’t wear fitted tops or prostheses bra as hurts! It’s so ugly, see oncologist tmo to see about chemo start date. Sorry to hear your plight too xx
