Hi everyone
I am due to have 6 sessions of FEC which has been delayed due to infection in reconstructed breast. I had my mastectomy on 24 0ct with no lymph node involvement. Offered chemo as extra security as two tumours were found in the one breast one 19mm and one 13mm within a 4 cm area. The tumours were taken with a 1cm clearance. I was wondering if anyone else had gone this length of time (12 weeks since op) before starting chemo.
Love Sandra
I didn’t go 12 weeks but had 9 weeks between op and chemo because of other unrelated problems. I also had a longer than usual gap between chemo and rads because of other problems. My oncologist didn’t seem particularly concerned about either delay, but you could try phoning the helpline as I have found them very good when I have wanted to discuss my concerns in the past.
All the best
Anne
Hi Anne, Thanks for your reply it is reassuring that your oncologist wasn’t too concerned, mine didn’t seem to be either but as i still have infection and wont be starting it till at least the 18th or 25th i was beginning to get a bit worried.
It is great that we have the support given to us on this site and the we can share our experiences. Now i only have to worry about the hair loss and side effects lol. At least I’m prepared as i have got my wig.
Thanks again
Best Wishes

Hi Sandra, i am being delayed at present also due to infection in the wound. I had my op 12 dec and still dont have a date for chemo. My onc wasn’t too concerned either said it was a long term objective, but cant start til infection home cos immune system will be compromised. Love Linda x
