Anyone had MRI to identify margins for DCIS?

Hi

I’ve had 2 WLE  for DCIS and still one margin not clear. The surgeon is saying MX, but I’ve had a second opinion and this surgeon is doing an MRI.

Has anyone had an MRI that has been helpful, I get the feeling he is not expecting a definitive image, so it looks like the MX will be the outcome.

What’s the word on the ward, girls?

Only just found this forum, wish I’d found it earlier…

Hi Carol, sorry can’t answer your question but hopefully someone will be able to help, just wanted to say welcome to the Forum and good luck with your treatment .

Hi Caroluna, I had an Mri shortly after surgery my second surgery for clear margins and its a weird thing to go through coz they have you put your boobs in like egg cups facing down - does not hurt, I was worried it would but they put cotton wool to catch them so they rest. Then they give you a contrast dye into your arm, make sure if you have had the full node clearance that they use the non affected arm. The contrast dye then shows up on the Mri any areas which are being fed by blood source. Mine showed up a lump but without any biopsies the surgeon told me it was benign, I asked how do you know and he said it was because it wasn’t a ‘bright light’ on the image.  Hope this helps
