Hi
I wasn’t really sure what subject this comes under, anyway…
I finished chemo for breast cancer about three and a half years ago. I lost much of my body hair, all the hair on my scalp and my eyebrows and eyelashes.
My eyebrows were never very lush and fulsome and have only grown back very sparsely. I have heard that it’s possible to have new ones ‘tattoed’ on and was wondering if anyone has any experience of this? Recommendations? Do’s and don’ts?
Also, although the hair on my scalp has grown back there are some areas where it is thin (this may also be because I am on an aromatase inhibitor). I am fair-skinned and dark haired and feel quite self-conscious about this. I’ve also heard that it’s possible to have some sort of tattoing done on the scalp to help disguise this. Does anyone have experience of this?
I want to put breast cancer firmly in the past but find these changes to my appearance are constant reminders.
If anyone has any ideas/advice re: permanent/semi-permanent make-up I’d be very grateful. Either post on here or send me a message.
Thanks.

Hello Geordiex and Wendy56
Thanks for your replies. It’s encouraging to know that you have been pleased with the results Geordiex, how long does the semi-permanent solution last? I hope you’re similarly pleased, Wendy56, when you have yours done.
If either you would feel able to recommend the places who do this procedure I’d love to hear from you. Maybe you could message me with a website/contact details for where you have had/are going to have your eyebrows done. I’m in southern England and prepared to travel to have this done properly.
Best wishes to you both.
Intrepid the place I am going too is 5 miles south of Peterborough a few miles off the A1. Will let you know how I get on but still recovering from surgery at the moment and have an infection so will not be for a while. She is very reasonable if you want to do some research I think she is called Ego nails and she would be mre than happy to give you advice

Thank you ladies. That’s really helpful. I will do some research.
Wishing you all the very best.
Hi
I’ve only just seen your post, but wanted to let you know that I had my eyebrows done in September 2012 and have been more than happy with the result. I did a bit of research by looking at the training schools who often give a link to a fully qualified person in your particular area. I live in West Sussex and chose Mary-Anne Hunter at Pretty Permanent Make-up, East Grinstead, who only does this type of work and has many cancer survivors as clients for whom she gives a reduced price. She gives a thorough consultation in her lovely rooms, and depending on how dark you go will depend if you require a top up in one year or two. It is not cheap, and I would also advise to be careful of the more “commercial beauty salons” as Mary-Anne has often had to rectify mistakes made at these quick fix salons.
Hope this helps.
Janice
I can vouch for Mary-Anne Hunter too… she did mine in April 2012 and I am more than happy
Hi Marian, I can recommend someone in Hitchin Hertfordshire but that’s a long way for you to travel. I hope you get a local recommendation soon.
