Had my first tax yesterday and saw my original consultant who is now changing me on to Bevacizumars ZA and Docetaxel as she says this may be better for my type of cancer. She has to write for funding for the Bevacizumars (avastin) drug and when I go back on 9/9/2011 I will have my new "cocktail’ but this will be e ery week for 3 weeks with a week off.
Anyone having this? Guess will be off work for the duration as have a Groshong line too.
Just want to bump this up as someone must be on avastin?
Hi, my closest friend Heather is on Taxol/Avastin, she is triple neg and had mx two years ago, she had mets to mediastinal nodes, a 3cm mass on vertebrae, ibc in other breast, a mass on her ovary and small pleural effusion. she is having chemo 3weeks on, one week off, Avastin every three weeks I think. she has had five months on this, very few side effects, and the pleural effusion has gone as well as the mediastinal mass, mass on back is significantly reduced. her doc wants her to do another 5 months, and then stay on the Avastin. From reading other posts on here( I research stuff for her ) I think funding for Avastin is hard to get, maybe thats why noone else has answered! Anyway, hope this helps, it is certainly working well for her xxxxxx kim

Thanks for that - I know my oncologist has to request it & it’s about £150,000 a year - Heather does seem to have got a lot going on but it is nice to know s he. Hasnt had many side effects. My first one is due 9 th Sept at Worcester if the funding has been agreed. What part of the country is Heather in?
Hi, we live in Central Beds. Heather had been feeling very poorly, taking morphine based painkillers and very tired, but now feels well enough to come back to work part time, which worries her doc a bit, but she is very happy… in the triple neg thread of ‘secondaries and reccurences’ you will find a lovely lady called Sadie posting, she is farther along with the Taxol avastin… Heather has a Hickman line, there seem to be so many different types.
