Anyone in Northamptonshire?

Hi anyone from Northamptonshire? I’m starting chemo on 5th March the day before my 50th birthday. Would love to hear from anyone starting treatment around same time x

Hi Nannyjack - Wow I thought I was the only person here from Northants!

I just turned 50 last November in the middle of my chemo. I’m back on my feet now and back at work. If you want any top tips, I’m more than happy to share.

Hi Laurie where abouts in Northants are you? How did you get on with FEC X3? Im hoping to carry on working in between treatments but will see how things pan out. Are you having radio as well as im having it after chemo. Any tips on anything gratefully appreciated and glad you back on your feet now.

Hi Jackie

I’ll send you a pm.

Hi it’s great to know that there are others in Northants, I’m in Wellingborough, turned 50 July last year, was diagnosed with invasive cancer in feb, had op to remove offending lump, and some lymph nodes on 29th feb, just waiting on results now, and it’s going seem forever

Hi, I’m just outside Wellingborough in one of the surrounding villages. I am two years down the line now and feeling ok. My next Mammogram is due next month and I am already feeling the jitters I felt last year. I actually felt I coped well with the treatment throughout - lumpectomy, 6xFEC and 20 x Rads - but my first Mammogram after diagnosis last year turned me into a wreck. Guess I was more scared of all this than I thought!
Biker chic, it’s not forever and that’s what you’ve got to keep in the forefron of your mind. It might be tough at times yes, but it’s very doable.
Nannyjack, I took a week off after every Chemo and worked for the next two. I think I was very lucky with regard to se’s but the best way to deal with it is to just go with the flow. Each treatment could make you feel different, so don’t commit to going in to work but let them know if they see you they do and if the don’t then you’ll be back when you’re ready!
Feel free to ask any questions or PM me if you want.
Karen

Hi ladies, icy-k, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated, I’m usually very positive, but as with life itself we have bad days, glad you are feeling ok, I’m sure you up and coming mammogram will be ok, fingers crossed for you  x Toni

Nannyjack, hope all went well with chemo,

Nannyjack, how are you doing? I hope the se’s are manageable for you.
Bikerchic, have you had any further results yet and been told what treatment you will have?
I hope you are both ok
Karen

Hi, icy-k, I’m good thanks how’s things with you? I’ve had results from op, nodes are all clear, but have to have more clearance tissue taken from breast, op number 2 is Friday 23rd, they’ve said it won’t take as long as the last op, they’ve also said that I will be having radiotherapy, when I’m healed, so just waiting for Friday now, and packing, we are moving on 30th march, so things are quite busy really. Nanny jack hope all is well with you, xx Toni x p.s hope all you other ladies are doing well, keep smiling x

Hi ladies, hope u r all well :-), just a quick update, had results from 2nd op, and all clear, I now have to have chemo, then rad, bit miffed bout it, cos was told would only be rad, but my hormone results came back neg, so no point having hormone therapy, take care all of u, and keep smiling  x

Glad to hear op #2 results are clear Bikerchic and not having to have the hormone therapy is a bonus. I’ve been on Tamoxifen for just over a year & could happily not take the blasted things!
When are you due to start Chemo? Will you be at N 'pton? They are so lovely there, made me feel so relaxed and were always so cheerful & chatty.
We’re not far from each other and I know I’m two years along from you (2nd Mammo check due next week) but feel free to ask questions or just talk about what’s going on in your life at the moment-privately if you prefer.
Avesta & Nannyjack - hope you are both doing ok too.

Icy-k, Hi, I’m still waiting for appointment 2 c onc, I’ve been told I’ll be having chemo at KGH, in the Centenary Wing, must admit to being very nervous about chemo, but I guess at the end of it all, hair loss, and feeling yucky, you get ur life back, it’s great being able to talk with someone who been there, done that, family are great but cannot fully understand what goes through ur mind, they try, bless them,so I will prob take u up on the talking, if that’s ok  ,

I’m here to chat for as long as you want
Hope you get your start date soon as just the waiting can be stressful.
If you feel more comfortable feel free to PM me with your concerns or like you say, just to talk.
Hope you’ve had a nice Easter.
