Anyone love dogs?

and feel that they have benefited them in their recovery - long walks in the fresh air etc. I have a one year old red Cocker Spaniel called Oscar and fully believe that having to take him out on walks (along with my four year old daughter) has helped in my recovery (emotionally and physically) - nothing better for the psyche than lots of fresh air.

hi doylej, i have a red setter and all thru my treatment he has been my constant companion, when im tired he lays at my side n puts his head on my chest whats left of it lol i am now back at work n it kills me when i leave him ,hes 6yrs old and called fenris he gets fenny

I have a Parsons russell called Beryl and a beagle called Brenda. Always pleased to see me and always sad to see me go. Love them to bits.

My Cairn Terrier (Rocky) definitely helping me through this - he’s been with me right from the start, beginning with the long walks I needed after diagnosis and waiting for surgery, right through to now with short walks as tam/zoladex/rads fatigue set in.

i have an orange [red?] cocker spaniel called Molly. She is 11 years old and has a couple of health problems herself. Last year when I was having treatment I had a drug chart so that we didn’t get in a muddle remembering what i’d had / needed. So that Molly’s tablets didn’t get forgotten if someone else was in charge if i was out of radar we added her things to the bottom of mine on the list!!

She is absolutely beautiful and i always enjoy walking her even though we can’t go very far these days cos she doesn’t handle it very well.

I have a lively 9 years old Border Collie called Pepper - loves walking, canoeing and generally playing around. But she is also very good if you are ill - lies down next to you and keeps you warm!!

I have a cross black lad/dalmation - Cachou and a cockerpoo - Coco. He’s 1 year old and she’s 8 months and they are great.

Two westies Oscar and Emmy he is 12 and she is 6 They have had 2 litters and given us so much pleasure. If I am in bed all day so are they no complaints. If I can do a good long walk so can they. 4pm and Emmy is sat at the lounge door ready for Deal or no Deal.

I have a japanese akita and a westie and they have been helping me thru all this. Especially the akita as he likes to stay by my side when i am feeling low.

I have a dogue de bordeaux (french mastiff) she is so loving and has helped me too through all this!!!

She sleeps for england x

I have two huskies called Blaze and Skye my fur babies …my best friends xx

Hi, I have a minature poodle called Millie who has been glued to me, and Florrie my beloved old retriever who loves a snuggle. I have also got a horse called Harry who remains totally indifferent to my plight and cares only about his food

Hi,

I have 2 cavalier king charles spaniel puppies, Daisy who is 7 months and Poppy who’s 5 months. They are absolutely gorgeous and are my babies! I was poorly back in march and ended up in hosp for a bit and Daisy was so fab with me, she never left my side once I’d got home (we didn’t have poppy then).

Dogs are the best, so loyal and loving. Its ace having little pups to cuddle up to! They’re so chuffed to see you when you get home too, which is great of you’ve had a sh*t day,

Kelly

I have only just found this thread after starting another today, I have just bought an 8 week old Yorkshire Terrier puppy called Denzil, he is so tiny and sweet. After deliberating for a long time I finally succumbed yesterday.

Not looking foward to leaving him for work tomorrow, although he won’t be on his own my dear Mum will be here to look after him and I’ll be sneaking out of work early that’s for sure.

Love to you all,

Tracy xxxx

Ahhhh - so many dog lovers out there.

Tracey, little Denzil sounds gorgeous and an absolute little bundle of fun.

Kelly - Daisy and Poppy sound adorable - they sound like my Cocker Spaniel (Oscar) both breeds are so, so loyal - never leave your side and will follow you to the ends of the earth.

Milliemum - you did make me laugh about your horse Harry when you said he only cares about his food - aren’t horses meant to be very psychic - I’m sure if he could speak he would say that he loves you very much - just as much as Millie and Florrie.

Debsincornwall - your two westies seem so sweet - they must be able to sense your needs so, so much - what lovely dogs.

Here’s to all our pets who have helped us (in their own way) get through this horrible disease. Jacqui xx

Hi Everyone

I don’t have a dog, but i did a couple of years ago. Her name was Frosty and was a beautiful Golden Retriever and died at the age of 14(we had her from 12 weeks). She was my companion, a good listener and helped me raise two lovely boys, Yes she was a mother to them too! She was also a therapet… she would visit people in hospital and put smiles on their faces also.
It broke my heart when we had to make the dicision to put her to sleep. I miss her dearly.
Sorry for being morbid but dogs are part of your family.

Kirsty

No need to apologise Kirsty - as you rightly say dogs are part of the family. Frosty sounds like she was a lovely dog, so it must have been very, very hard when the time came to let her go - especially when she helped you raise your two boys. Dogs certainly are therapeutic and Frosty showed that by bringing a smile to the faces of those who were ill and in hospital. You can’t really ask more from a pet - they love us so much and ask for very little in return. RIP Frosty. Jacqui xx

I have a lovely jack russell / corgi/ poodle cross called Chloe. She’s 16 years old (I have had her 12 years). We rescued her from appalling conditions and over the years have seen her develop from a nasty nipping thing to a dog who gives so much love. Shes riddled with arthritis and got cataracts in both eyes but is still able to bound over the garden when she wants to. She doesnt do walks which suits me fine at the moment as am finding it hard to get about. She always seems to know when I am down or sad and comes and sits by me. Shes very deaf as well so doesnt come when shes called but always knows her way home. I dread anything happening to her as she is such a comfort. Its too hot for her at the moment so shes lying on the tiles in the kitchen
Jools

I have a gorgeous dog called Eddy who at the moment is going nuts because it has started to thunder. He is a cross between a Staffie/Jack Russel/Patterdale…3 terriers rolled into one! He is pale brown with a white chest and white running socks on his front paws.

He is my first ever dog and my boys and I absolutely adore him.

Doylej, I think you are right about Harry. He makes me laugh because he seems so indifferent but in actual fact, as a rescued race horse, he only really seems to like me and my friend who I share him with, and he does seem to have been giving me lots of licks lately. Or could that just be the warm weather  I love all my animals to bits and they are such a distraction aren’t they with this rotten old disease.

And Kisty, I still miss my lovely cocker Lupin who was my first dog who I lost 4 years ago. They etch themselves on our hearts xx
