I have just had two courses of Xelox following a diagnosis of bone mets after a regional recurrance under my arm. I discovered another lump last week and am waiting to go in for another op to have it removed. Meanwhile had a meeting with my onc who advised as Xelox not working we now try Carboplatin when I have got over the op.
Anyone else had this chemo - any advise about what I should be asking or other drugs not on NHS I should be investigating?
I had carboplatin with taxotere and herceptin, there is a leaflet they can give you by cancerbackup. This explains side effects etc
Hope this works for you good luck, sorry can’t offer any other advice.
Thanks Kernowdisy I got a phone call yesterday to say they are not going to remove the regional occurrance as I previously had them removed and they grew back so they are hoping Carboplatin will shrink the tumour and hault the spread. Here’s hoping.
My combination of chemo worked for me I had 5cm tumour that shrank with neo adjuvant chemo. It was locally advanced and 1 year on everything is looking good. all the best
Thank you so much for your post I have been more or less told that this is the last chance to try and stop tumours growing so fingers crossed for Tuesday. I am so glad it worked for you and thanks for giving me hope.
