Hi girls,
Just been told I have to have Chemo, very frightened to say the least!, but if it protects me from further cancer’s then so be it.
My consultant has informed me I will go on the BEATRICE TRIAL with AVASTIN, I have had an operation for a ductal cacinoma HER2.
Never seen any threads of anyone on this trial and would be greatful if anyone out there is on it and how is it going for you?.
A very concerned, Carol x
Hi Carol
Have not heard of that trial my oncologist i saw for the first time last november talked about trials but then decided not to put me on any had two tumours one in situ and one not in right breast and secondaries so complete axillary clearance could find out for you if you wish as senior oncology nurse at the hospital i am having treatment is my neighbour. Also will ask why they decided not to put me on trials am having Herceptin for one year have had four so far.
Take care, remember we are all with you you are not alone.
Very best wishes and love
Kate
You could also try the clinical trials forum at her2support.org chatroom. It is a US site, but people from all over the place visit and that forum is very specifically for people to talk about what it is like on different trials.
Best wishes,
Christine
Sorry to hear about you needing chemo Carol. It is a horrible shock if you thought you’d got away without it. Sorry but I’ve never heard of Beatrice trial. Hope it all goes as smoothly as poss for you

Hi Carol
I have been asked to consider going on the Beatrice trial for Avastin. Not seeing the oncologist until the 25th July but I think I’m going to say yes. Obviously won’t know if I will get the drug or be in the control group. Will let you know more later.
