Hello
I am 8 years down the line after diagnosed with primary BC, after 5 years of Tamoxifen now 2 1/2 years of Letrozole.
At the moment I have one app each year with BC surgeon and mamogram and one app each year with Onc.
I have private health cover which I pay for myself after leaving my employer who had provided it for me. To bring the cost down I have an excess with is roughly the same as the cost of my appointments.
My Onc is based some distance away and is not a NHS consultant in any of my local hospitals(he was when I was diagnosed) When he moved his private clinic to a hospital about 30 miles away and a difficult journey I moved with him.
His appointment amounts to a 10min max consultation at early morning appointments and I am unable to book a time of my choosing. As I have to pay for the consultation which is what I consider a very high amount I am beginning to think that I really need an Onc more local. I have a private hospital about 20 mins up the road which is where I first saw my Onc.
If I was happy with my Onc I probably wouldn’t change but I come away from the appointment frustrated that he doesn’t really listen to what I am saying.
Is there anyone who has changed Onc/Consultants and did the paperwork/reports follow you and how did you go about making the change.
Any advice would be appreciated
Hazel
