Anyone starting chemo aound end of May?

Hi all! Julie the oven incident made me laugh! I tried wigs on Tues when i went for 1st Fec, a surreal experience but not bad for £60!
I did try thr cold cap, but …not sure if i will next time will see what happens with hair! The hair is a big issue isn’t it!

Mary, just bought stuff to deal with constipation, tried all food remedies then I read I’m going to have other problem with TAX!

Pauline the indegestion has kicked in so got gaviscon aswell as sennakot!Agree with you about the brave comment!!!

Went to work today! Ok wasn’t one of my best decisions! Children thought it very funny that I kept eating ginger biscuits!!

Good Evening ladies…
1st FEC overwith and only 5 more to go!!! Actually having it wasnt too bad but they couldnt get a line in… It took 5 goes!! My left arm looks like a pincushion but I feel kind of relieved that it is done and now I know what to expect next time. I feel a bit ‘drunk’ and lightheaded and got terrible taste in my mouth, feel a bit queasy but nothing more than that. I havent been given any steroids to take at home just Ondansetron and Domperidone. Did any one else feel like they had knives ‘down below’ and on top of their head when they had the ondansetron? The nurse said it was unusual but she had encountered it before! Trust me to get something different!
My wig was totally paid for by the hospital, didnt cost me a penny!

Cathjue09 how many days is it since your FEC? i.e. how long have I got my hair for??

Debs and Krisid how are you today?

Keep those chins high Ladies!!

hi all

im surprised to hear that some of you have had to pay for your wigs. I got mine from my hospital for free and i thought we were all entitled to 1 on the NHS…

I do live in wales so i dont know if that makes a difference as we get free perscriptions here too…

Debs glad your doing ok xx

Mumszy glad today went ok xx

Krisid how are you xx

Hi mary, been to docs and got the one a day tab for indegestion, just waiting now to see if it works.

Hi

Mumszy, My hair started to fall really bad on day 18 so shaved it off on day 20.

Hi all,
Mumszy, well done for getting 1st one over n done with. My hair went day 17 after first fec.

Glad everyone is coping well. I start my bone strengthening tablets for the secondary bone mets in the morning. You have to take one then not eat or drink anything for half hour and stay upright - will have to wait for that first cuppa now and change routine - maybe shower first aNd do the pack lunches etc before I put kettle on - someting else to get used to !! Take care all, love Debbie

hi
mumszy my hair started coming out lots on day 13, but might not be the same for you,
debbie good luck with the tablets, my change of routine is putting my hair on and then brushing it,

Sunflower wherabouts in wales are you?
Debs , Krisid, how are you Honeys?
Thank you for all your well wishes, still got awful metal taste and feel very tired just going to rest up i treated myself to Benjamin Button DVD yesterday so crawling off to watch that now!
Love n hugs xx

Hi all.

Julie best of luck for today and that all goes well.

Mumszy I found the extra tab(on top of the ondansetron 8mg)that i got from GP, which was Cyclizine 50mg to take in between, was great during the first 3dys and took sicky feeling away. Howd you find the New Brad Pitt film! I thought it was a bit strange and def not like his normal hunky stuff hard to fancy a man that you would end up having to put a diper on!LOLS

Debbie its true what you say about having to change your ‘way of life’ but we women are versatile beings which again proves we are the superior race!

Kittenkat hope your well and txs for all the info re: Tax. Im sure your glad thats over and you should give yourself a well deserved pat on the back or better still a nice glass of wine and your feet up!

Day 10 for me and barr a slight niggly headache today (dont know if its the weather or that time in the FEC cycle)doing grand and looking forward to a relaxing weekend!

Big hugs to all xx

Mumsy i live near Holywell which is north wales just in from Chester.Sorry to hear that youve not been so well and hope it passes soon.Benjimin Button is a good film to collapse on sofa and watch.

Has anyone had problems with thier scalp after the hair came out, thought id ask so fore armed is fore warned as they say. mines still coming out but have decided to hang on for a few more days as i have really thick hair and its not showing yet. mind you its windy here today so no doubt there’l be a fair few less by the end of today lol

love to all Sally xx

hi there everyone, day 9 for me, interesting rosiefff i had headache day 7 and 8, also sick feeling started for me yesterday and still got it today so gone back on anti sick tabs. Charming just sort indegestion and sickness starts.

Julie, Hope your 2nd runs smooothly for you

Luv to everyone Pauline xxx

Hi Pauline
Soz to hear your feeling sick again, ask doc if he can try you on something else. As you say coincidental that we’re getting the headache during the week that our white blood cells are supposed to be at their lowest, or it could be PMT playing on me as breasts still tender or as last resort, this thunderous weather we’re having!!Either way its not too bad just niggly! OH says 'well there’s no change there then!!Cheeky Sod!! I would be constantly on the go, and find it hard to sit(except for episodes of Corrie) and maybe I need to take it a little easier, especially during this week!!!
Forgot to take my Lansoprazole tab this morning and have that feeling of my food repeating on me, so will def take one in the morning.
Lady I met told me her 27yr old who had tumour in the neck, was so sick (even on the tabs) she used to have to sit with her head between her legs as when she sat upright she would pass out. I thought OMG, how lucky am I that so far I have got away with some indigestion! Its things like that, that make me realise it could be alot worse.
Pauline you take it easy and pamper yourself this weekend and hope things improve for you.
Big hugs xx

morning all

just a quickie, my scalp hurts abit . is this normal when hair is falling out ?

hope everyone is well
Sally x

Hi Sally,

Yep,scalp thing’s normal.I experienced tingling, tenderness, bit itchy etc (not all at once necessarily!) It’s a pretty messy business losing your hair and I found it quite upsetting. In some ways it’s easier once it’s all gone. Now I’m just waiting for it to come back, still have 2 more chemos though so it’s a bit of a waiting game.

Good luck with yours,

Little H x

Hi Sally
Nurse told me scalp can be tender & sore at this time but not to shave it, just get hairdresser to cut it down to finger lenght and then rub some baby oil into scalp. She said if shaved and wearing wig it can irrate the scalp and cause ‘cradle cap’ the same as new born baby.
Hope this helps! xx

Hi Sunflower

You may find our publication on hair loss helpful to read, you can read or order it via this link:

Best wishes

Hi Pauline
Got answer to question of headache this morning…period arrived!!Hope its gone by end of Chemo…THE JOYS!!! xx

Hi Sally
My scalp is also quite tender to the touch - I’ve got FEC 2 on Tuesday so it is about due to fall out - I’ve tried to keep a hat on to prevent any breezes moving my hair which hurts. I’ve got some hair falling out when I run fingers through it - I envisaged it all going at the same time but it seems to be a gradual process. Wig at the ready anyway…
Hope everyone is going well with you all
Bev

rosiefff, i started last week too about the same time as headaches so it must just be down to that. Thanks for the tip about shaving head. will bear that in mind when the time comes.

I know some of us are so lucky when you read what some of the other ladies go through. Julie had her second yesterday and she was sick again last night and today after trying different anti sickness drugs, must be awfull for her. Hope she feels better soon. thinking of you julie, take care x

Try to have a good weekend everyone, Luv pauline xxx
