anyone starting chemo in August?

Thanks penny xxx

Hi all Maisies - I have finally succeeded in posting something - don’t know what I was doing wrong! Anyway, I would like to join the group  - I have been reading some posts. - I started chemo on 21st August - I’m on FEC-T 3 cycles of each.  I have been fairly lucky so far I think - felt sick but not being - headaches and now the sore mouth/ulcers have started.  Is it the steroids that make you feel so ‘wired’ ? If so is there anything you can do about it?  I haven’t had much sleep at all for a few nights and am exhausted from ‘dancing’ around all the time!  I have a PICC line - it suits me well as I have small veins and always have difficulty when they want to take blood.  I also have the Limbo sleeve to go over it - that’s so much easier than the cling film I was using!

Please can you include me with all the others who went to the bar on 21st?  What’s that group called?

Hi Anne Marie welcome on board - yes the wired feeling is the steroids Im afraid

Christy I am redditch  i work at bromsgrove hospital , il pm you my number and let me know if you want to meet for coffee , be better after the 5th as my little one will be back at school cxxx

Gilly, I was told that hearing loss and tinnitus was a side effect of fecT, and that it would go when treatment finishes but not sure if that meant it would last throughout or come and go. Just what I need, I’m already deaf in one ear, I do hope this improves for you, it’s so distracting when you have ear pain.

hi all

is anyone having a tingling face?  I had this last time too.

Think swapped sickness for muzzy head this time.

Interesting what you say about hearing loss as |I have to keep asking OH to repeat things I thought was cos had my anna bandana scarves over my ears!!!

Hi breezy, that would be lovely to meet up sometime, so u have your chemo at the Alex? Bet we had same surgeon? It’s a small world isn’t it! I would love your number, sorry wat does pm mean? I so not up to date with this lingo xx

Penny where do I find the gelclair link please? x

Does anyone hail from my neck of the woods - I live way down South - near Portsmouth.  I’m also one of the older women - 59 as well.  I found lump myself back in May - seems so long ago now.  Had that out and also lymph nodes, but after chemo still have to have a MX as worse than they realised - that was a shock.

My steroids are called Dexamethasone and even taking them at 5 a.m. and about 11a.m. I still couldn’t sleep - and I realised that on the last day I only took half the dose I was supposed to - got confused with the other meds!

Hi all - hope you are having a nice weekend, just a quick update, picc line not put in they couldnt do it as i was too anxious so going to have a premed nxt wed for them to attempt it again, bit nervous as picc will be done wed morn and my chemo will be done in the afternoon through it so there will be no time for it to settle down.

Hair falling out loads so had it cut really short, has anybody got any tips for really sore scalp, it hurts to even touch my head so any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks x

whiterose people earlier on suggested the Naked range you can buy it in boots, ive ordered a free sample of the mouth stuff too.

hope everyone is not having too many SEs enjoy the bank holiday xx

Thankyou Pendragon i will have a look in boots this week. Sorry to hear you feel v tired but best to grab sleep when you can, hope your energy levels will soon pick up xxx

Thankyou Hotkatz - i do hope the premed works to relax me enough, anxiety overload at the moment, never sufferd with it before, doc given me some tabs to help with it, only been on them a couple of days so we will see if they help - how long has your picc been in and did it take long to settle?

When you’re driven up the wall
And you want to scream and shout
Heres a little dammit doll
You cannot do without
Just grab it firmly by the legs
And find a place to slam it
And while you knock the stuffing out
Yell “dammit dammit dammit”
If dammit a not a word you say

Then twist it’s little neck
And grumble out repeatedly
Oh heck oh heck oh heck x

does anyone rem the lil dollys you used to make with wool, just found this lil verse on my FB page thought it was quite apt to how we feel sometimes, the lil dolly was like a corn dolly, scarecrow kind of thing, cant work out how to change my pic or id put pic up on there xx

I was wondering how to change my pic to cuz I want my fav animal a giraffe, xx

Whiterose, I had picc line fitted last Monday and had chemo same day no problem. I was petrified too, but really its painless apart from the slight sting from the local anaesthetic. Bit achy a few days afterwards but paracetamol sorted it no problem. Much better than them digging around for a vein for every blood test and chemo.
Penn, will keep you up to date with my chemo schedule each week, you’re right it seems terribly complex! Presumably they know what they’re doing and there’s some sort of master plan!

wow am really having probs with internet connection this morning so hope it posts Jill and Roller glad to see you are feeling better today Gilly remember you entering vulnerable stage now . Chemo strips lining of your gut in about 7 days so any loose bowels will kick in now - keep immodium on hand Lols gonna take a leaf out of your book and go for a picnic as its a lovely day in sunny old Manchester today think just gonna wear a hat Im finding these scarves far too hot and uncomfy hope everyone does something nice for bank holiday. Just think the next BH is xmas and we will be coming out the other side of this nightmare by then BTW saw an interesting article in Welsh news about a catwalk in Cardiff with women who had been through BC. Some inspirational stuff there one woman who is now 41 has had it twice ( first dx at 29) and managed to have two children and breastfeed from one boob. She has since had other boob off and after a failed recon has thought sod it and is now breast free and looks amazing. have lovely day maisies hope to check in later if stupid bloody computer lets me
