Hi ladies, I’m from the November newbies chemo thread and start my rads on the 7th May. I was told to use Aqueous cream and only simple shower gel for washing. I’ve read that the udder cream by Moogoo is really good so I’ve purchased some and are going to give it a go. Apparently it’s recommended by oncologists in Australia.
I’m down for 15 session but no boosters as I had a bilateral mx with immediate reconstruction in October 2013, followed by FEC-T chemo.
I take my E45 in my bag and apply before getting dressed. I didn’t on Monday and felt uncomfortable on the way home. I always carry loads of water as I am finding I feel dehydrated.
I have tried to treat myself after every treatment. A nice lunch, or today was an ice cream as the weather is so nice. I had an hour delay yesterday and half an hour today so take something to distract you.
Hello all
I just had my surgery 12 days ago and I’m waiting on the schedule of the radio treatments
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it makes if for me much less scary
Good luck for all of you
Paula
the treatment it’s self is so easy, just lie there, I could just fall asleep it’s so effortless.
However for me the travel and waiting is a problem. But it’s the same people, at the same time every day so you start chatting and the time passes. The longest wait I have had was over an hour, the lady I travel with didn’t get her treatment today because her machine broke down.
the hospital I go to say not to put any moisturiser on at all, I do and have had no problems, other ladies I have spoken to have used nothing and have burns. My scar is a little sore and inflamed but it wasn’t healed when I started so it’s not a surprise
all in all it’s been very easy, only 7 more to go.
I’m using E45 lotion, the one with the white lid. I got a huge bottle for home and a small one to take to hospital.
I use it because someone on here was told it’s ok by their oncologist. My skin did feel tight on the first day but now I use the cream I’ve had no problems. The radiation site is starting to change colour a little but the skin feels ok.
you must be desperate to get yours started. Once you get going the time passes quickly.
Yes the waiting is horrible, I seem to be getting more wound up the longer I wait - just want to get started now. It’s been 2 weeks since my planning meeting and 10 weeks since my operation, I suppose I am just getting fed up with all the waiting we have to do.
Hi Songbird
I have read some using Aloe vera too
I hope you don’t have to wait too long to start your rads
I have my aloe Vera ready. I think from reading on here it’s best for use on burns.
It’s in the penny sale at Holland and Barrett so I’ve stocked up. But I’m just using the E45 for now. I have also found that my skin is getting very dry because I can’t use my normal shower gel so I’m using it everywhere.
I can’t believe I’m two weeks in already. The time does pass quickly. The waiting was much worse than the treatment.
I’m in week 3 of 7. I’m not on Tamoxifen but have not been too tired. I make sure I lay down for an hour when I get home. Sometimes I have a nap but just resting enables me to carry on as normal. Don’t worry you can get through this. Xx
I was very tired on Friday and Sat but woke up on Sunday feeling fine again, I really think it’s a case of listening to your body and being good to yourself.
on Monday noticed a large scarlet patch under my boob, got a bit of a panic because my scar is still not fully healed but saw nurse after my treatment and it’s a fungal infection. Completely normal it seems and it’s fading already after using cream.
I like that there’s always someone on hand to check you out if there is any concern over anything. Nothing is too small to bother about. That’s me 11 down 4 to go already. I have had a little pain from time to time but my skins fine and it is vert doable.
To the ladies starting today it will be over before you know it.
each appointment gets quicker the more you do it. The hospital I go to is very organised as parking is limited. They have attendants and you just don’t get in unless you are having treatment.
is there a place near the hospital you can park and walk, or even a buss route you can park and hop on a bus. The stress of getting there and parking is worse than the treatment sometimes.
Hi Fluffy
How many sessions are you getting?
Tomorrow I will know how many, but probable 15 for me
I’m a bit concern as the weather now is hot -around 27 degrees. I live in Lisbon
Does any of you feel worse with the hot weather?
Good luck for all of you
I am so tired, the machine broke down and so I had an hours delay, I am very glad I don’t have to do the 120 mile round trip again.
not sure if the tiredness is travel or treatment but they told me I’ll feel worse over the next 3 to 4 weeks before I feel better, it’s all very doable. But it does take it out of you.
to all the ladies just starting, it passes very quickly, I can’t believe that’s three weeks already.
