Hi all, gingery I’m under Guys Hospital in london, where I work as well. I can imagine the last chemo could be an anti-climax. I am looking fwd to it but also worried in case anything has gone elsewhere and I end up having to have more. I know it’s not the way to think but I can’t help it at the mo. Planning appt sounds ok, I think I have to have that appt at St. Thomas but hopefuly the treatments will be at Guys as hoping to be able to work part of the time. Where are you bing treated?Pheebster, I didn’t realise the nails could still come off that long after finishing. Did you use the cool mits on hands and feet? I used them the first time sand it wasn’t uncomfortable so I’ll continue. The watery eyes drives you mad, doesn’t it? I haven’t put on too much weight at all but I do still have 2 to go and my appetite seems to be huge at the mo! Well, hope all are doing well, love and hugs, Pat x
Hi All
Pat the jacuzzi I am thinking of is in a 5* hotel so perhaps that would be okay! Think I might call my BC nurse and see what she says. My two sisters and I are staying 3 nights in a lovely hotel next week which will be day 13 for me so I hope taste improves my then! I am really looking forward to it.
Gingery how long after chemo are you having rads? My onc said they usually wait 2 months.

HiLadies,
Pat I had all my treatment at the Rivers in Herts and will be having the Radio at Addenbrookes.
PP, when I saw the onc originally they booked me in for Rads 16th March which is 3 weeks after my last chemo but at the planning session today they said the appointments would be sent out but would probably be after that due to the amount of people currently being treated. I asked for an early date as I want to get it all done and dusted asap,Im also keen to be evened up and have been told I need to wait at least 6 months after rads.
Sleep tight

Hi Ladies
Have 2nd TAX on Monday then last one 28th Mar, then have CT planning scan for rads on 20th April and start rads 27th April so to have to wait 2 months seems quite a long time?! Obviously varies from trust to trust?
Pat and PP how you feeling on this TAX then? I had big set back last week with a night in hospital but gotta say yesterday I turned the corner AND feel great today and although I hated the fluey pain thing on day 4, 5 and 6 generally think I prefer it to FEC. I was dreading TAX and am relieved that we’ve all lived to tell the tale after our first blast!!! Not looking forward to Monday though, as am quite worried about common allergic reation to 2nd blast, but will let you know what happens!
Take care Ladies!

Pat - I didn’t use the ice mits as I was using cold cap and thought it would be a bit too chilly…also had trouble with my veins so had to stay as warm as possible.
Hope you are all coping with your SE’s…
Hi All, Jo I agree with you about the Tax as opposed to Fec. I’ve had the usual sludgy mouth and no taste, aches and pains and a sinus infection which prob messed my temperature around a bit, but all in all, not too bad. I guess the effects may build up, and I’m a bit apprehensive about the allergic reaction thing but I figure, we’re gonna be in a hospital, nurses on hand in case of reaction which is easily dealt with so I’m not gonna stress - she says hopefully! Yes, the rads thing seems a long time - I was told I’d start rads within a couple of weeks or so of finishing chemo so, unless there’s surgery or a wound of some sort, it seems a long time to wait. Pheebster, yes it might be a bit cold but I must say I found it fine. Hope everyone’s okay, love and hugs, Pat x
Hi All
Jo I have to say that I preferred the FEC to TAX I am on day 10 now of my first TAX and had the aches days 4-8. It’s the sludgy mouth I can’t stand. My fingers are sensitive to the touch and I have a few mouth ulcers. You have me worried now what is the common allergic reaction to the second dose of TAX?
Having said I prefer FEC I still find the TAX ‘doable’.

Hi all,
Hope everyones okay and had a nice weekend. jo, good luck for tomorrow, I’m sure you’ll be fine, I’ll be interested to see how we go with no. 2 but just think, we’re nearly done! PP 5* hotel sounds fab and just the ticket! Hope bc nurse agrees about jacuzzi coz that’ll be fun. eyelashes almost all gone now so eyes really sore and itchy - will get drops. All the best to everyone, love and hugs Pat x
PP, I’ll let you know tomorrow if and wot allergic reaction is like but have to say, that some girl I was talking to was hospitalised with her 2nd tax reaction, and this really is not an option for me as it’s my birthday tomorrow and my mum and 3 little uns are putting on a party for me tomorrow evening, so I’d hate disppoint, them and me!!!

Hi Jo, Happy Birthday Hope all went well with tax and that you can have a good day. love Pat x
Hello Ladies
had my 2nd tax yesterday and as predicted spent the whole of my birthday day hanging around at hopital as I did get the allergic reaction with this dose. Eventually under contral and then a bit later decided to challenge me again and this time with piriton etc in my system it seemed to go in ok. bit scary though! Got sort of a funny prickling sensation creeping up my throat and into my tongue which then started to go very itchy and tongue got a bit fatter. They stopped it immedeatly and put in piriton and i think something else but not sure, maybe that was some sort of flush through, can’t quite remember as I was in a bit of a panic. Then I got this horrible cough which came from nowhere and lasted about half an hour. Then when it all settled down that’s when they started it again and this time it was OK. Next time need to have piriton before they start!
Managed to get home for cake though so that was nice!
Best of Luck everyone!

Oh Jo, you poor thing! I’m worried now as I have tax #2 Thurs. Oh well, I’m sure they’ll have the piriton at the ready! I wonder how common it is, this allergic reaction? Glad you managed some cake anyhow. Hope everyone is well and coping. love and hugs Pat x
Pat, hope TAX 2 ok for you today and no nasty re action for you.I’m day 4 now and feel terrible, think it’s coz I had GSCF injection as well as 2nd TAX so culmination of both, spet all day in bed with aches and pains and hot flushes!
Take care!

Hi all, hope everyone’s ok. pp you’ll be fine on Wednesday I’m sure. I’m feeling like I’ve been hit by a truck - had a bit of a temp since yesterday but this happened last time - does anyone else notice this? Gonna try warm bath and paracetamols and hope for the best. Spent weekend in bed which was soooooooo boring and depressing so feel I need to get out in the sunshine. love and big hugs, Pat x
Hi Pat
I had a bit of a temperature last time too around day 8 just .1 below the 38C when they tell you to call the hospital! Hope you are feeling better soon. I found Ibuprofen worked better than the paracetamol. I also bought a heat pad from Argos which helped with the aches and pains.
take care

Hi all, hope all are okay. PP I can’t take ibrufen coz of asthma so it’s either paracetamol or Tramado - which is really heavyweight. Onc has given me some and I’m only gonna take it when pain is unbearable as it really knowcks you out, apparently. I think the SE’s on Tax may be cummuliative so will wait and see what happens on Tax 3 - last Tax!!! Heat pad sounds good idea, I sometimes use hot water bottle but have found that my temp goes up very easily in 1st week of tax so just trying to use paracetamols to keep it at bay. Jo, hope you’re okay and hope everyone is enjoying the fantastic weather - the sun always puts a smile on my face (well usually, nothing would have done that on Sunday:( although I’m over that now…). Have a good day, love and hugs, Pat x
Hi all
Had my 2nd TAX today and pleased to say no reaction. I was surprised that my WBC was only just okay despite having the injections to boost it - I expected it to be way up!! Two more TAX to go now!
Hope everyone is okay
