Anyone taken part in ONCOTYPE DX Testing trials?

Hi,

have posted this in a couple of places in the hope someone has also taken part in these trials!!
I’m 38, was diagnosed with BC on 1st Feb this year.
Going to meet my Oncologist tomorrow, I had mastectomy to right breast on 7th March, I had a wide area of DCIS & an 8mm tumour (IDC), overall grading was stage 2 with no lymph node involvement (they took 7 nodes in a SNB at same time as Mx).

I’m Oestrogen receptor positive so will have some kind of hormone treatment but the medical team want my consent for these trials - I am more than happy to give consent, especially if it helps other people in the long run too. will have to wait 2 to 3 wks for results cos they’re sending my tissue samples to the USA for this test.

been told I won’t be having Rads & also may not need the chemo after the oncotype dx testing, just wondering if anyone else has any experience of this?

have also started a blog! it’s kept me busy whilst i’m recuperating from my surgery!

I dont really understand what you have had, was it a mastectomy? I had my lumpectomy on the 7th March and am still recovering, but I consented to take part in a clinical trial before I had my op. I took Arimidex as I am also estrogen receptive, two weeks before the op. and two weeks after, just finished this week, yesterday. Had no side effects, all was good. I also elected to have some tissue from the op removed and analysed and also blood tests. As you say, it all helps with future prognosis. I had to sign a consent form at the beginning. Hope you are recovering well.

Thanx for getting back to me.
Yes i had mastectomy on 7th march, i can’t take any hormone tablets until i know for definite whether or not i’m having chemo - which is what this test will decide.
If they mention your tests again & it turns out to be ONCOTYPE DX testing, will u let me know please? just so i can compare notes with you!!
