Is anyone else having hot flushes ?

Yes!! Wasn’t sure if it was just the lack of HRT kicking in  However, the last couple of days have been much better. Nothing at all today.
So, perhaps it’s just the after effects of our surgeries??
Anyone else had them?…

Welcome home Suzy. Rest up :hugs:

Glad it’s not just me. Woke up last night in a soaking wet bed. Happened a couple of times today too. Not being able to shower doesn’t help . What a palava !

I have had hot flushes for years and they have gone straight back to how they were!

I think that’s why I struggled so much with no showers/bathing.

I have bought some baby wipes for under my operated arm cos they won’t make the dressing wet and so far so good :crossed_fingers:t2:

Yes I’m using wipes too. Sleeping on a towel tonight !!

Morning lovely ladies,

Can’t sleep yet again…

I sympathise with the hot flushes. I’m not really sure if I’ve had any but it has been warm and muggy recently which hasn’t helped.

Re armpits. Yep I’ve got stinky pits :joy:. I was, and am still, using a good old fashioned flannel and soap to get in there. I didn’t want to use traditional deodorant so bought a load of Fussy ones pre-op. They smell lovely in the pot but aren’t having much effect so guess my axilla is just reacting/healing so exuding it’s own kind of pong?

Oh the joys :joy:

It would be safe to call ourselves ā€˜the pongers’

I’ve just showered and used a little Sure (roll on, haven’t used the aerosols since diagnosis#1) so I’ll see if that eradicates it

I’ve has a wash at the sink. Used wipes under the affected arm pit. Haven’t attempted my hair yet. Feel wiped out x

I didn’t wash my hair for a week after my op as I was just too wiped out.

Felt so good to have a shallow bath and hair wash though! Can’t wait to to be able to take these dressings off and have a shower, albeit without perfumed shower gels.

Yeah can’t go wrong with the soap and flannel approach, looking forward to being able to do that properly!

Thankfully it’s supposed to be cooler this week so hopefully that will help with the sweaty pits and any associated smells :joy:

I think it’s gonna be a bit like an underarm wax taking these dressings off, especially as the one under my arm now has extra tape on it :woman_facepalming:t2:

My consultant said she was going to try and get the tumour and lymph nodes out with the same incision and I think that’s what she’s done. I can sort of get to my armpit but there’s nothing like having a good ol’ wash in the shower is there. When are you all seeing your consultations. Have you got post op treatment plans ? Mine is Radiotherapy and Hormone Therapy but not been given dates yes. Have nice Sundays xx

Yep, top tip for anyone reading this…. de-fuzz your pits before your op!

Sheelagh, I’m the same as you, radio plus AIs. I’ve got my radio planning/measuring tomorrow and have been taking Letrozole for 4 weeks now (touch wood no side effects yet :crossed_fingers:t2:)

Hope everyone’s having a good day, Bx

Hiya Sheelagh

How are you feeling now a few days on?

That’s good that they could make just the one incision. I have 3 incisions but they all look fairly small.

My follow up consultation is on the 28th. The original treatment plan was radiotherapy followed by 5 years hormone therapy, probably tamoxifen. That is all obviously depending on the results from the op :crossed_fingers:t2:

Having a relaxing Sunday, hope you ladies are too

:sparkling_heart:

I completely agree with that top tip, a shave was one of the last things I did before I left that morning!

I’ve been told I’ll probs go on Tamoxifen but that will be discussed at a later date. To be honest I don’t really know what the difference is between the different hormone treatments.

Hope you’re having a restful Sunday
