Apocrine cancer and chemo

Hi, i have recently been diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative apocrine cancer. Succesful op, clear margins and no lymph node involvement. (20mm tumour)

There are absolutely no clear directives re chemo and the decision has been left to me. Oncologists are following the pathway for normal triple negative cancer. Offering chemo followed by radiotherapy.

On top of which we have a large family event in the first 2 weeks in June. My surgeon suggested to go on holiday and come back and have treatment which will be 13 weeks after surgery. He felt just radiotherapy. However oncology are keenly offering chemo to start asap.

I’m so confused re the lack of clarity not only around whether chemo is necessary but also the time frames in which it is safe to delay treatments.

The research, what little there is re Apocrine suggests that chemo may not be helpful.

Any thoughts?

Hi Lion
Really sorry for what you’re going through. There is another thread on here about apocrine TNBC. If you search apocrine in the forum it should come up. Think that will provide you with a lot more information.
