Hi all had my appointment this morning Saturday as was an extra clinic put on due to being so busy. Had an ultra sound and the doctor said he was almost certain that the lump is a fibroadenoma but wanted to take a biopsy to be sure. I asked him how sure he was and he did say he’d put money on it however when I saw the nurse after I asked if I should be worried and she said don’t worry until you get results so now clearly I’m panicking. I’ve also been told results won’t be back for nearly 2 weeks and had an appointment made for the 7th April which seems ages away. Is it normal for them to a biopsy if they are sure it’s a fibroadenoma? Also is it normal for my breast to be really sore after a core biopsy? The doctor didn’t leave the local anesthetic long enough and I could feel everything, I did tell him and he stopped and waited a while then the procedure was painless. I’m quite worried tonight although I’ve had good news I’m concerned as to why they did a biopsy.

I would say that he is just being absolutely certain, he, and you would not want him to, would not want to send you away without having done all the tests to assure you that is what it is.
Yes it is normal for your breast to be sore after a biopsy, you will probably find it will settle down overnight.
Try and not worry, and I know that is easier said than done.
