Just wondering how long it usually takes before you get an appointment letter after a GP referral to breast screening clinic?
Had my appointment at the GPs on Friday after finding a lump in my breast. The GP said she wasn’t concerned so it wouldn’t be an urgent appointment however that I would still likely get seen within a few weeks.
Also is it usually a letter I would get or a phone call to arrange the appointment?
My GP referred me on a Thursday and I got a letter through on the Tuesday after that, I was told by my gp that all referrals to breast clinic had to been seen within 2 weeks of referral
Hi Flowers,
Presumably you were not referred under the 2 week rule as you say your gp referred as not urgent, which is usual practice.
As appointment slots are manged quite tightly now, you may well get a phone call if one comes up, you may also get a letter. Phoning through appointments is normal practice now, so do answer your phone if an unknown number comes up!
