April 2026 chemo starters

For the taste thing I recommend anything citrus and fizzy. Worked for me and helped me get the necessary fluids down after infusion.

Thanks Sam, I’ll definitely make sure I’m stocked up. I’ve also been following your lead incorporating cocoa into my diet, hoping to keep on top of my neutrophils and minimise any delays

Hi everyone :waving_hand: I’m chemo 2 tomorrow as well. Interesting tip about citrus and fizz…what type of fizz, soda water, carbonated water or something else? Last cycle wasn’t too bad apart from the 4 day nausea. I was hungry but had to keep it super plain. I must have eaten a whole packet of Jacob’s cream crackers! My nausea woke me up at night too so I even had to have crackers next to the bed :joy: scared my husband to death with the noise! They’ve changed one of my anti-sickness meds in the hope that it’ll be a better top up.

What are people taking the antihistamine for?

@getdomestic-01 in terms of fizz, carbonated water with a slice of lemon or lime, or with cordial (Rocks Orange is good), or orange juice with fizzy water, or citrus kombucha. Those are my recommendations.

I’m on antihistamine for allergic skin reaction to paclitaxel. Mainly face. It definitely helps.

Thanks @sam1204 I’ll give those a go. Water tasted horrible, could manage decaf tea but Def wasn’t getting enough hydration.

These tips are sooooooo useful x

I am so with you the 90 minutes! .I did have from the Macmillan team reiki yesterday and went to sleep (hope i didn’t snore). When the cap comes off ice on head. Im going to order the cold hand gloves and feet they help with neurothearpy, Take care everyone xxx

Reiki sounds wonderful. Don’t think its offered where I go. I’m going to try compression socks next time. Not sure how cold hand gloves and feet work. How would you keep them cold?

I believe you can be referred for complimentary therapies. Have a chat with your BCN if you’re interested.

They are on amazon not cheap Ā£80.00 freeze then they last abit . I saw a lady have them on last week but didn’t get a chance to ask. I need to get them . Also read put feet in cold water soak, pat then moisturiser. Think you can do that for hands as well.

I been drinking fruit herbal tea.green tea and ginger and lemon oh and ribena in water

Thank you

I used Suzzipads for my first cycle - they are a faff. You can’t move your hands and feet during the infusion. I discussed this with my oncologist and she said to just use compression therapy. She showed me the Elegant trials which were really interesting. Use compression socks that are 20-30 strength and two surgical gloves per hand one size too small. I did that today and it was much easier and cheaper!! Look up the study and see what you think.

Hello pullover.

I did look up the suzzipad and it says like 30 minutes thank you I will look into compression socks and surgical gloves. I also check for what chemo treatment I’m having. Big hugs xxx

Hair started falling out like crazy on the day before my second cycle. 2 days later, I decided to shave it off. I thought I was prepared for it but omg. It was one of the hardest part of this journey for me. I cried like crazy. But the next day I felt good and now I am rocking the cut! I did not experience much symptoms on the second round which makes me happy. I have been very active!
