April 2026 chemo starters

This is positive so would you say around day 8? I’ve woke up today feeling a bit less sleepy but still very fuzzy headed and not quite sure how to function but did manage the school run!

Day 8/9/10 more so because I hate the filgrastim injections and I took them till day 9 whereas day 10 I had nothing to take so finally felt I was getting back to myself xxx

Hello everyone :waving_hand: hope you are all doing ok. Been lurking for a while as I wasn’t sure when I would start chemo. Got the call on Saturday that it’s Thursday :grimacing:

It’s lovely to read all your journeys and feel less alone in my own. I’m 52 and was diagnosed with er/pr positive her2 neg in October. I’ve had 3 surgeries so far, lumpectomy and full node clearance (8 cancerous) beginning of Dec, reexision early Jan, margins still not clear, so mastectomy beginning of March. Rather an expert on the surgery side of things now :joy: The results revealed a further 2 tumours that were not visible in the MRI despite being 16mm and 0.6mm.

So my regime is 4 x EC every 2 weeks, then 4 x Paclitaxel every 2 weeks. I’m also having Zoladex injections so I have crash menopause to look forward to as well. I’m giving cold capping a go too. Might as well. Getting hair cut on weds. I’m not sure whether to go bixie or pixie! It probably doesn’t matter really as it’ll look grey and thin in a couple of weeks anyway.

I’m frantically doing a last minute shop of things I think I’ll need. It’s been useful going through this and other groups for inspo. If anyone can recommend a face moisturiser that is clean but works, let me know. I switched from my boots no7 as it’s an endocrine disruptor to A rituals one and it’s rubbish despite its price tag!

Sucks that we are all here but so glad to have found this community and a place for commoradorie and support

Hello

I can highly recommend La roche posay cicaplast. I am due to have my second EC cycle of chemo this week and have not yet had any skin issue but this face moisturiser is the only thing that helped my perioral dermatitis. Hope all goes well for you on Thursday.

@getdomestic-01 face moisturiser, I’m the expert :joy:!. Your face will get dry and if you’re unlucky like me you might get a face rash/allergic reaction to the chemo (especially paclitaxel). So - best options in my now extensive experience are Aveeno oat Calm and Restore (there’s a full range including facial wash and night cream as well as day cream) - try Boots as they often have offers on. Likewise Boots for La Roche Posay - That’s a bit more specialised for breakout skin but it’s very good. I use a combo of both. The other thing you can try is Moogoo - I got some of that but I just use it for body moisturiser. I find the smell a bit disconcerting….Anyway hope that all helps

And if Sam’s suggestions do not help and your skin does get uber dry, take some photos of what it does. And DO speak with your oncologist. There are options on prescription that can help when nothing else does.

Hello

Welcome to the newcomers in the group and best wishes for the soon to be chemo starters. Thank you for sharing your journeys. All this information really helps us newbies.

I’ve just got back from 2nd EC. They gave me all the same meds to take home so really pleased as I haven’t had any nausea with the first.

The cold cap felt much colder as I’ve been shedding a lot of hair on top since Tuesday ( much merriment for my husband who went bald in his 20’s!) ,but it was still manageable. I had a pixie hair cut 10 days ago and so glad I did, as the shedding is all over even with short hair . Probably going to get the rest razored off this week.

Does anyone please know what is best to put on a bald head to protect it using the cold cap for my next EC .

Thank you xx

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I use moogoo , its good stuff so far when my skin gets really dry i use the sensitive skin balm and it calms the soreness right down
