Hi cissyf
I am sorry to hear that your sister is experiencing these side effects, I am sure you will receive support and advice from other users, but in the meantime, I have given here the link to a factshee published by Breast Cancer Care on the subject of Arimidex:

Hi Cissyf
I have very recently posted about the exact same thing. I have been taking Arimidex for the last 4 months and now have very painful feet/ankles and knees. The worst thing for me is the burning sensation in my elbows. It does wear off during the day but it has got to the point that I am seeing my GP on Monday for advice on how alleviate or minimise these distressing symptoms. Did do 10 minutes of bending feet up and down, doing circular motions etc which seemed to help. Will let you know how I get on Monday. I will try to carry on with the Arimidex though as I really do not want the cancer coming back.
What symptoms is your sister experiencing?
Speak to you soon.
Love Jan
Hi Cissy I have only been taking these Arimadex for 5 weeks and I have got the same effects as your sister nearly ever person who I have spoken to have had the same effects. I had to go to my GP last week and he gave my some antiflammatary tablets they are called Diclofenac they have helped a bit. Some other lady told me to take cod liver oil capsules as they helped her she did say that it took 2 months for the cod liver oil capsules to take effect so I am on them at the moment. You get these at the health shop a big bottle and they are very cheap. I am sorry your to hear about your sister having these problems but do tell her to go back to her GP I do know that these Arimadex are the best tablets on the market thats why I am sticking with them It is still early days for me though and I wouldnt want to be suffering like I am now for the next 5 years as thats as long as I have to be on them. If I hear any other things she can take to help tha pains then I will let you know Give my Love to your sister Linda xxxx
thank you for your responses, my sister experiences simliar side effects to what most have identified such as stiffness, burning elbows and very sore joints. Her legs continue to swell, (no indication of heart difficulties) can only assume related to drugs taken. She had a dexa scan prior to operation and was prescribed calchichew however no recent mention of such a scan. should this be the case?
reading the messages is it advisable to consider exercises such as yoga etc? i will advise on the anti inflammatory meds along with cod liver oil.
thank you
