Arimadex…gets better!
Arimadex…gets better! HI Girls
Just thought that I would mention that it seems to get a little easier with the Arimadex as time goes on. I have been on it since approx June and at first it was pretty bad with the stiffness and joint ache…but touch wood…over the past few days I have found it getting better. I am still sometimes a little stiff around the ankles first thing in a morning and getting up after a period of time is still a bit dodgy, but the hot sweats have definately eased. I still have the problem of the extra weight, but maybe after Xmas I will join a slimming club.
Love Debbie x
I have taken Arimidex for a year and a month. Yes, I would agree that my first four months were the worst time for me. I got really bad pain in my hips and it was really sore walking and, in particular, going up stairs.
Thank goodness, all the pain in my hips has gone, Now I have a slight ache in my arm, especially at night. There is stiffness getting up in the morning. Occasionally when I go upstairs my knees gets quite sore, but compared with the early days, I can tolerate it.
Although I realise everyone’s journey on these tablets is different, I would encourage people starting Arimidex to give themselves at least four months before giving up on the tablets.

I Agree Hi Debbie,
I have been on Arimidex for about five months now.
At first I had terrible pains in my joints especially my knees. It was at its worst as I was lying in bed trying to sleep. However it has gradually eased off and now I only have slight discomfort occasionally.
My hair went very thin in the beginning and I was really concerned about the loss and felt quite upset about it but it has started to grow back.
Today I went to my hairdressers and she showed me new short hair regrowing all over. I was so pleased. So it does seem to get better with time.
I am still having the hot flashes but not as many as before. As soon as I feel one coming on I use a little fan which is a boon. It is a fairly powerful one with three blades. I got mine from Marks and Spencers and it was only £3.99.
I have put a few pounds on which is disappointing because I had managed to lose five stones in weight over the last year.
I am gradually losing them again but it is a slow process.
I am determined to keep the weight off, it isn’t easy but it can be done.
Good luck.
Pattyann.
Thanx LancsLass I’m glad to read your post. I’ve nearly finished chemo, then I get my rads and 5 years of Arimidex. I’ve been a bit worried cos of all the posts here that talk about Arimidex and joint pain - especially as I’ve promised myself that I’ll start hill-walking after the chemo effects have worn off! Got plans to go to the Lake District a lot, cos I’m from round there.
BTW I live quite near you (in Liverpool).
