Arimidex and getting up in the night

I have been on Arimidex for two and a half years and am woken up at least 3 times a night really hot and damp and always need to have a pee as well. I mentioned this to my oncologist yesterday as I was beginning to worry that I had a urinary problem but she said it was most likely oestrogen depletion as I had no other symptoms. I just wondered if this was happening to anyone else.

I had been on HRT for a long time and stopped when diagnosed. I immediately had the same problems as you, although I don’t get in a sweat, just too hot. I wake every couple of hours and invariably get out to go to the bathroom at least once, as I feel it is another thing that may wake me later in the night.

Now I am on Letrizole and so I am sure it won’t improve. Yes, I imagine it is a low oestrogen level that is the cause. However, I have taken Evening Primrose Oil for many years and I think that is helping me in the hot flushes department.

I have always been a chilly person and felt the cold, but now, I am warm all the time and am wearing a thin blouse, instead of the jumper I would normally be wearing in winter. Like others, I have taken to wearing a summer coat when I go shopping, as I find my winter one too hot around the shops.

Hi olivia ever since I have been on arimidex since oct 2008 for a reccurence I have not been able to sleep, get up several times in the night for the lou.I feel hot all the time cant wear winter clothing and sleep with window open at night. There is no way I could wear a jumper I wear thin clothes all year long.I have stiff hands and trigger fingers which I notice is now down as a side effect on the arimidex information leaflet, but of course they have all been telling me it couldent be the drug. best wishes love suzan x
