Arimidex/Letrozole
Arimidex/Letrozole Hi everyone,
I finished chemo on Aug 16 (taxotere) and radiotherapy on Oct 13. I have been taking Arimidex for about 2 months now and am finding it really tough. I was really positive through chemo, op etc and thought taking tablets would be the easy part, how wrong was I !!!
I have really bad joint and muscle pain, some days are worse than others but most of the time i am in pain, even when in bed.
Been to see OC who suggested changing to Letrozole to see if it makes any difference. Going to give it a go not sure if its the right thing.
OC mentioned trying cod liver oil and some other one which i can’t remember the name of, anyone tried this?
Having a bad day today can’t find energy or motivation for anything.
Hopefully will feel better tomorrow.
Take Care
Elaine
Hi Elaine, I’m really sorry you’re feeling so bad. I have heard from a friend that Letrozole was very good for her. She had very few side effects. Also I’ve gathered from reading leaflets etc that Letrozole is the best tolerated of the 3 Aromatase Inhibitors.
Good Luck.

Elaine Letrozole/Femara is listed as kinder than A- hope it will be easier on you. Yes, fish oil is officially a help.Best wishes, dilly
Hi Elaine
Breast Cancer Care publishes a factsheet on the subject of

Hope you find this a useful source of information.
Kind regards.

Joint problems I found I had aching joints on Tamoxifen, and started taking cod liver oil and glucosamine. This has improved things a lot.
Glucosamine can be terribly expensive, especially at Holland and Barrett, so I get mine mail order from a company called Healthspan, based in Guernsey.
Hi Gandalf
Had a slightly better day today (managed some xmas shopping) but stiffend up now that I have sat down.
Bought some cold liver oil capsules today and will give this a try. Have taken note of the name Healthspan and will give the glucosamine a try if things don’t improve.

joint pains Hi Elaine
I suffer from joint pains too since I started Arimidex 16 months ago. I take Glucosamine,Chondroitin/MSM and Vit C combination from Healthy Direct (www.healthydirect.co.uk). Much cheaper than H & B. It does help a lot and I also find that if I keep active (i.e swimming/walking) that I don’t ‘seize’ up so much. I also take Evening Primrose Oil from the same company and they help a little bit witht he dreaded night sweats. Good luck.
