I had the operation last November and although I am still doing exercises, going to physio for stretching and exercising I am still having pretty bad pains in my entire arm, especially at night. It throbs and gets very heavy, and just simply hurts.
I can’t get comfortable, every position hurts and I just toss and turn all night. During the day I don’t have much pain, its bearable anyway, and I use my arm as normally as I can (but because of frozen shoulders I can’t move either arm in certain positions).
Any suggestions about exercises specifically for the arm pain, or remedies that anyone can offer to try to stop this, gratefully received?
I have ordered some magnesium oil as suggested on another thread, but in the meantime…?
Hi Peacock,
no cures I am afraid, just wanted to send you a cyber hug and say I think it may still improve as the hot weather may be making you retain more water. If it only aches at night do you think it could be that you are using it too much during the day? Try doing the minimum for a couple of days and see if it improves. Might have to pace yourself a bit more and hand washing up over to Mr P
Good luck
Love

That sounds awful to live with. Have you been doing the exercises that you were given after surgery? I did those until rads, then did the rads exercises, but I was then started to get a stiff shoulder about 8mth post op. My bcn referred me for physio and I only needed 1 session, to get some other exercises and now I have full range of movement again. Maybe this could help you too?
Hope it improves soon

Gentle yoga type stretches are very good. I’m nearly 3 years down the line from a WLE and node clearance and I still have a heaviness in my arm, plus nervy pains, but it has got better with time and I’m able to do most things. However, I don’t carry shoulder bags any more, I opt for messenger type bags that go across the body or the type of hand bags you keep in your hand. I also bought a laundry basket on legs as it makes it a lot easier to hang out bath sheets and bedlinen.
Thanks ladies, Cherub I will do an internet search and look for some easy yoga arm stretches, if I can get into it I am sure it will do my whole body good - especially the excess tum!
I am trying to swim every day whilst this weather is hot, so hopefully that will help.
Kinden I have been going to physio since a month after the mx, tbh I am not sure the stretching she has been doing has worked, last week she found cording and did a stretch which made something pop.
The laundry basket on wheels sounds fab, where did you get it? I try not to do any heavy lifting, but sometimes its unavoidable - especially when Mr P works away and I am mostly on my own, you have to manage as best you can.
Take care

I got my laundry basket a couple of years ago in Lidl when they had them on special, the legs fold underneath and the whole thing folds flat to save space. The come round again about once a year as they had them a couple of months back. However, I think Lakeland are good for laundry aids like this as well and you can shop online with them as I buy jars for pickling my OHs garden veg. My nearest Lakeland is in Edinburgh, which isn’t far for me, but as we run a business from home we never seem to get time to have a day out any more!
