aromasin /exemestane has any one else been loosing their hair from this drug?
was on capecitabine for18 weeks before. have been on exe foe 4mths.
Hi margaretalice
Yes, I also have breaking/falling hair that I think is related to exemestane, which I’ve been on for almost two years (after two years of arimidex following liver & bone mets diagnosis). I’ve also been on capecitabine (1000 mg x twice a day) and ibandronic acid bisphosphonate tablets for almost four years, which could cause hair problems, and I’m 57, which in itself might be affecting my hair. Annoying, isn’t it? My hairdresser didn’t have any ideas about how to reduce the “shedding”; already keep my chemo-curly hair very short.
Anyone have any brilliant cures?

Hi girls, isnt the hair loss thing interesting, Ive noticed how often females talk about hair, everyday they go on and on about how good or bad it looks, not mine of course Ive still got too many bald patches before I can not worry about scaring kids. Im even thinking that scafs are alot easier than the real thing. This time around its taking ages to grow back from Whole Brain Rads. But as you say Marilyn, if its not from one thing, it would be another! Hang in there girls and remember that someone once said that “Bald is beautiful” Who on earth was that???

Hi Girls,
Bit worried now after whole brain rads have lost hair but thought oh well it will grow back in a while, but I am now on Exemestane and it sounds as if I have no hope. Any ideas?
Thanks Treakle x
Treakle you might be lucky. I started exemestane a couple of months ago about 6 weeks after finishing chemo. I was very worried in case it stopped my hair coming back - especially as I’m also on Herceptin which is known to sometimes slow down hair growth.
I know it’s early days but so far the exemestane hasn’t had any effect on my hair. It’s coming back slowly but is very thick. I take two ‘hair and nails’ tablets every day - that may be helping as well.
Good luck everyone

Hi Margaret alice,
I have been on Exemastane since April 06 and haven’t noticed any hair loss. After chemo hair came back as thick but more wavey. The only thing I have noticed is that my joints are really clicky - especially my knees and I don’t think thery were on Tamoxifen.

I’ve just re-read my message above - it’s meant to read - Treakle you might be lucky and find that Exemestane doesn’t affect your hair growth. - Sorry - I’m still suffering from chemo brain.
Sarah - my joints are also very creaky and stiff - just about to order some Glucosamine which is supposed to help.
Take care everyone
Anthi x
Thanks for your comments as least it has given me hope that it will come back and I will try the tablets mentioned too.

Hi Anthi hope you dont mind me butting in here, but I was just reading that you had brain rads. I finished mine before christmas last year, and I can now not have to wear a scaff for the first time. (even though I have a bald patch on the back of my head, I dont care?) The hair has been a slow time coming this time. The brain is still hanging in there although some times I think its getting dodgy or is it just menopause???
take care and hope you are feeling well
Suzy
