As well as newspaper, possible TV

Hi

Well, the Manchester Evening News is running my story in tomorrow’s newspaper. They own ‘Channel M’ television station, and they want to interview me tomorrow night!

To say I feel sick is an understatement!!!

Poannie xx

(I have tried to private message some of you bu I don’t think it has worked - I’m not ignoring you!!!)

Have just read your story, assuming you are Joan.

Hi

Have just done a search on your previous e-mails and realise that the article does relate to you. I did not want to go waffling on if I had the wrong person! I first noticed your e-mail re meeting up in the Manchester area, so had not realised about your family history, wedding etc…It really is awful for you, but I can see you are a strong and brave person, from your comments and I know you will get through it.Your fiance obviously loves you very much and will help you through. The timing is pretty awful too, isn’t it? I can think of a worse word to use but it would probably get sensored by the Moderator!

You are becoming quite a star aren’t you. I am not sure if I can get that channel, but if I can I will look out for you.

I don’t think we are allowed to give out e-mail addresses on here, but the article says who you work for, so I will see if I can get a message to you there to give you my e-mail address or perhaps through the MEN.

Lots of love.

Bye for now.

Julie. N.

If anyone would like to read the story, I have just noticed it is on the Daily Mail website today.

Well I did it. Not only is there an article in the Manchester Evening news and The Daily Mail website (same article as owned by the same company) I was also on ‘channel M’ 9pm News tonight. Jeeeeeeeeeezus that was nerve wracking. However if it reaches out to others and helps someone deal with things a little better that day, then I am happy.

Just found this too - I have to say, I much prefer this article and it seems to flow better…

What an inspirational story. I think what you have done is fantastic. Good luck with the wedding and enjoy that honeymoon! On another thread people are discussing a story about viewing breast cancer now as a chronic disease. I think that your story tells a different side about how dangerous breast cancer can still be for most women, its not just one disease but many: so well done on putting this across to people! Your story has also brought to mind my friend who has chronic myeloid leukaemia, her daughter is 7 and is in remission for 2 years from a brain tumour which she had at 2 and recurrence at 5 (she was not expected to live 6 months on first diagnosis). It seems some families are so very unfairly hit and my heart goes out to yours. Every day I am grateful it’s just me going through this and not my 7 year old daughter too. You will be in my thoughts and I am hoping for the very best for you.

Hi June

I had a phone call at 8am this morning. I thought it might be the hospital telling me there had been a cancellation and they had brought my op forward, but no, it was a friend from working telling me you were going to be on GMTV. I had mentioned your story to her and she remembered.

Saw your slot at 8.30am. You did really well and I think you achieved your aim of getting the message across re regular checking.

Thought the presenter was a bit cheeky with her comment re the likelihood of a conventional wedding. It must have have something to do with Matt’s hairdo! You looked quite normal though. Only joking!

Hope everything goes well with the wedding and honeymoon and lots of luck.

With love from

Julie N

Hi Julie

Yes it was me… i was so damn nervous. At the end of the day, when do you get the chance to go on TV and ry and influence people’s lives? if just one woman checked herself and did something about anything she found - then i did good.

Thank you for your comments. Dealing with what is going to be happening to me and my body on 22 Aug is hard to deal with, so I am coping by focussing on other things - things that can be positive.

Hi poannie

I also saw you on GMTV and thought you were fantastic. You came across very together and not nervous at all. I certainly couldn’t have talked about my breast cancer the way that you did yours and I admire you for that.

You and Matt clearly love each other and wish you all the very best on your wedding day and with the rest of your treatment. Keep your positivity as that will get you through the next few difficult months. Chemo is no picnic (if you have to have it) however sitting here writing this with no hair and one boob you do get used to your change in image.- LOL

I have found this site invaluable and has really helped me through. Please let us know how the wedding goes1

Hi Poannie, well done! You’re so brave to face the fear and do it anyway! I loved both articles (Daily Mail and The Times). I will be thinking of you and am wishing you a wonderful wedding day and honeymoon. I recognised the name of the breast nurse that they quoted - you’re at the same clinic as me. I’m due to see the surgeon on 7th August and will then hopefully have an op date for my double mastectomy within a week or two of that so we could be in the same place at around the same time. Now that you’re famous, I’ll look out for you!!

We’re going away on holiday for a week this Saturday. We’d booked it months ago, just a caravan in Wales and the kids really excited so going to try and not focus too much on things until we get back. Keeping busy definitely helps - my house has never been so clean and tidy!
