At the Breast Clinic tomorrow and worried!

Hi everyone, I have found a lump in my right breast near to my sternum really. It is really hard and to me it feels like a bone (which I am hoping it is). I have been having some other symptoms that may or may not be related - pain in my right shoulder blade, an itchy scalp and twinges in my breasts every now and then. I have not slept properly since I saw the doctor last week because I just thought he would say it was just a bone and I had nothing to worry about! I don’t know what to think! x

So sorry to hear you are having so many worries. You don’t say whether your doctor referred you to the breast clinic or not, and if so, when your appointment is. May I suggest, that if he hasn’t referred you, that you go back and ask for a referral. It might be that your lump and accompanying problems are not breast cancer related, BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW. For your own peace of mind, and also so that the cause can be investigated. If you do have an appointment, may I wish you luck, and a good outcome. Sending you big hugs in the meantime.

Hi Fluffy,
Try not to panic about your appointment tomorrow, The Consultants will be able to tell from either the mammogram or the ultrasound what is happening, and if they have any doubt, they will take samples to check. With luck they will be able to reassure you that the symptoms you are experiencing are benign, and you can go home and forget the episode.
If the results are not so favorable, we can support each other as we go through the process.

Thank you so much for your lovely and reassuring comments. I have had my appointment today and it turns out that it is a thickening on my rib cage (like cartilage) and there is nothing to worry about. So relieved. Thanks again. x
