Aine & Sue. I started chemo July 16. Just a month ahead of you. I’m on Herceptin injections until January and tamoxifen for 5 years. I still have daily fatigue. Some days worse than others. Also aches and pains and a heaviness to my limbs. Sore back and pains in ankles too. Last week in the car home from work, I was actually crying, I was that tired. I walked into the house, up the stairs and lay on the bed for 10 minutes. Finding full time work a struggle. Luckily I have annual leave days, so take a Wednesday off to recharge my batteries. Worried how I’ll cope when I run out of days! Ifeel like an old woman at times.
We went away for few days last week and both days, I went for sleep in afternoon. ? I never expected I would still be feeling like this. in saying that, I have sort of accepted that this is how I am for now, rather than getting upset about it, as what I had been doing a few months ago. I’m due hospital review next week, but know I’ll be told the same as last time, that it could be side effects of Docetaxol, Herceptin and or Tamoxifen. I’m hoping when Herceptin finishes that I see an improvement
Yeah to Blueash for finishing Herceptin! x
Aine - I’m still wearing my wig too. My hair is growing back, but very fine, especially around crown. You can actually see my scalp through my hair and there’s a few bits around temples that just don’t seem to be growing. My wig’s lovely, so everyone thinks I look great, but if I take wig off, I certainly don’t look great ? I’d love to be able to ditch the wig. Hopefully around Christmas time, fingers crossed. Bit disappointing to come through all this and have rubbish hair ?
Thanks Alex.
I have accepted that there is only so much I can do in a day. However, it’s others that cant seem to understand that I still get tired. Feel pressured into working more, but I’m struggling to cope. The problem is, is that I was struggling with fatigue before all this madness started, so it’s hard to know what the cause is.
Have a gp visit later on in the week, so we’ll see.
Sue xx

Hi lovely August ladies ?
I have just had my last herceptin and am on tamoxifen.
I have had painfull legs and feet since chemo.
But the last 2 months have been hell. It starts like an achy flu exausted feeling then my knee joints swell up so much I can not straighten or bend my legs. Totaly bed bound for 2/3 days and just managing to make it to the loo with crutches. Pain keeps me up all night. My elbow has also started to swell too. I have co codamol and oramorph. Then after about 4 days it dyes down for a week and then starts over again. Doctors recon it is the doxitaxal that has caused it. I am waiting on a referal to a rumatoligist. So scared they won’t be able to help.
I was doing so well , going to yoga and pilates classes. Now I can’t go at all. I have been looking to see if anyone else has had this, but not found much info. Don’t know where to get help. I feel like 100 yo not in my 40’s. I have just put my name down for a wheelchair from the red cross. I am so hoping this is only going to be temporary.
Any one got any advice??
