August 2016 Starters

Vintage, glad it’s been a bit more manageable this time. Hopefully you’re over the worst of your sickness symptoms for this cycle. Maybe it they commence SD even earlier next time, it will help even further.
I have a PICC line installed. Have had no problems with it whatsoever. Nurse comes once a week to dress and flush it and also takes bloods from it the day before chemo. When I had to get IV antibiotics for ulcerated mouth, this was able to be used also.
Take care x

Hi everyone

I hope you all are doing well and SE are as minimal as possible for you all…

I was hoping someone could help… I am due my 3rd FECT on Thursday however over the last week my hand and arm where the chemotherapy has been administered is quite painful to the touch… I am a little worried as I cannot use my other arm due to lymph node surgery… I will inform the nurse when I go on Thursday or should I inform them beforehand or is there anything I should be doing in the mean time? Xx

Hugs to us all… xx

Hello Ladies,
Just a small question.
I have now had 2 doses of fec and I have noticed that on each of the cycles my MX scar has flattened alot around day 7 then then went back to being quite puffy again by end of cycle.
Anyone else noticed this?

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share this with you.

I was at the Look Good Feel Better course today at my local Maggie’s centre, which was fab by the way, loads of great stuff including lancome, chanel, YSL, to name but a few. Still need to practice putting the make up on being a non-girly type though.

Anyway, got chatting to the girl I had been sitting next to after the class and she is having chemo before mastecomy. She has had 3 FEC and 1 T and her tumour has gone! Not shrunk, disappeared! She, like me, is also on herceptin. So for all you ladies who are suffering bad side effects from chemo at the moment, hang on in there as horrible as it is, think of the good it is doing.

Best wishes

Hi hazel

I’m due my 2nd bout of fec Wednesday had bloods today and oncologist tomorrow ,my oncologist said to me when explaining my chemo before first bout that they were hoping the tumour will shrink to nothing as cases have happened they placed a clip inside the tumour of my breast ,I asked why and that’s when he told me that should the chemo strink it to nothing and when they operate they hoping just the clip to be there , love hearing stories like thisxx

Hi
Now that’s great news to hear. Just what I needed tonight. Funny how the fear just catches up sometimes.
Thanks for sharing xx

Hi flopsey just must back from oncologist chemo tomorrow at 11, mine is 4cm and I’ve got to do 4 fec and 4t Then after all this , it’s surgery and plan is lumpectomy, all geared up for week of tiredness lack of sleep and hopefully less sickiness …and my story will hopefully be as lovely as yours ???

Hi ladies,

I don’t normally buy magazine’s, but October’s edition of Good Housekeeping caught my eye today.
There is a very good article on Survivors Guide to Breast Cancer worth reading. 4 woman’s experiences through treatment. And info on future treatments.

Hi Blueash
Interesting what you say . I will be having fec-t and H I have had the fec reduced already by a small amount for 2nd and 3rd chemo. ( due to white blood cell recovery not good ) Then back to full dose to try the new t and h part. I think there is a good chance of the second part being reduced as well. But I will keep you posted.

On day 11 of 2nd chemo. My mood the last 3 days has been rock bottom, tried all sorts to break out of it. Panic and tears. Mind way ahead of its self, thinking every bad senario possible. But feeling much lighter today? ahh . Not sure what triggered it. But blaming the chemo. Sun is out, poor hubby is loaded with the cold so trying to dodge him.
Getting myself out for a good walk today with maybe a stop for some tea and cake ?

Hi Blueash
Is that you now hit the halfway mark? Hope you are ok this round.
I find the steroids don’t give me much energy but have now realised why I had a very greedy few days. Could not put the Roses box down. Ha ha

3rd fec yesterday… wooop woop halfway there!

Little sickness here and there and hardly slept last night but managed a couple of naps on the sofa to catch up a little today.

I rang about my hand and arm hurting and they told me to let them know on Thursday which I did, they said that this was normal but as I didn’t have any swelling they will look for another vein. All seemed ok but still painful to the touch. Let’s see how I get on…

I start my injections on Monday to Friday and I must admit like you Blueash they make me feel awful bone and muscle ache and flu like symptoms for a couple of days.  To help I take painkillers the day before… I found it helped me a lot on session 2.

Hope you are all doing OK. … love and hugs xx

Thanks Sue and See see,
Good to know I am not the only one all over the place.?

Hi Julieg2016
Hope the side effects are kind for your half way number 3. !!!

Hi everyone

I hope we are all doing well and hugs to you all.

I have a sensitive question… I have just had my 3rd fec on Thursday and I am seriously noticing a weakness in my bladder, I have to go in the middle of the night a few times if I don’t I know I will have an accident… if I need to go I have to get to a toilet quickly… is this normal during chemo? Is there anything I can do to help myself?has anyone else had this change?

Love to you all xxx

Hi Julie,

Yep, I agree with Sue. My bladder was a lot more sensitive during chemo. I often felt on the verge of cystitis although it didn’t actually develop into that thankfully. And drinking so much fluid obviously doesn’t help, although it does help if you see what I mean. That’s another not widely reported side effect of chemo - talking about your bathroom habits with strangers on the Internet. :smileyhappy:

Ruth

Ruth, your post made me laugh. And how true lol.

Hey Blueash
Sorry to hear you are feeling floored right now. If I was you I would let my care team know if you are finding it worse than usual. They may be able to advise. Or put your mind at rest.

I have my 3rd fec next Monday if my bloods are ok.
I have not experienced the docetaxel as yet. That will be chemo 4 to 6 for me. Not looking forward to the unknown again.

Thinking of you ???
Hugs Vxx

Hi vintage

I’m having to do 2 more fec and then it’s 4 t …I’ve not looked at what the side effects are as its like not knowing the Unknown again just in my second bout of fec not as bad as my first all I do is sleep ???

Keep smiling ??
