@sez my bc nurse said to eat whatever you can manage so think youā€™re doing the right thing!

Iā€™ve not had a nurse tell me what to eat, I just read the well behaved people on here eating healthy and when all I can manage is crap I feel bad Iā€™m so naughty.

I just had a second reaction to the docetaxel, luckily not as bad as the last cycle and I caught it quick but sounds like I wonā€™t be having it again. Not sure if thatā€™s good or not. Iā€™d only had 14ml of it. Donā€™t know if it means I have to make up the missed treatment. Relieved it wasnā€™t as scary as last time. Sitting in here waiting in a doctor. Lady next to me had a reaction like my previous one a couple of hours ago. Nurses really on the ball today

@sez glad to know you were in good hands, unfortunately you put thwm to the test, how are you doing now? Did anyone say anything further in regards to your treatments going forward?

Waiting for a doctor to check on me. Will be able to have the carbo-whatever itā€™s called today, but not sure what happens next except no docetaxel in the future (canā€™t say Iā€™m sad about that, horrible stuff). Wondering if I will need to make up the missed dose.

Very weird reaction this time, had the dry cough again but then it was like a patch of air in front of me felt very warm. Too weird not to press my button to check if it was more or the heating was playing up.

@sez hope things are moving onā€¦ just to say that at my initial visit to the chemo ward the nurse said ā€˜eat little and often and if all you can eat is cream cakes, well then eat cream cakes!ā€™. and it is a reputable hospital just in case you were wondering! :joy:. She was saying now is not the time to try being extra healthy, lose weight etc, just do what you can so who am I to argue?! :two_hearts:

Oh no @sez. I was hoping youā€™d have plain sailing today. Iā€™m dreading starting docetaxel next but I know I might not react like you, but still scared. I guess youā€™ll have weekly paclitaxel now then maybe? I believe it is less likely to cause a reaction. At least it was caught fast today and less scary. Hope you feel better soon. Xxx

I read on the NICE guidelines regarding docetaxel versus paclitaxel, and it does say that paclitaxel is better tolerated. Guess why the first choice is docetaxel???Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£. Wasnā€™t awfully happy when I read that .

Mine pretty much respond with ā€œdid it stay down and not make you feel worse than before you had it?ā€ And if itā€™s all positive they just say ā€œdo what you need to do to get fedā€.

I just wish I could be more disciplined. Considering the steroids Iā€™m on Iā€™m impressed I havenā€™t ballooned (having the squits for the first three weeks probably helped :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

My body is as stubborn as I am I reckon and it just hates docetaxel with a passion. Donā€™t stress about it before having it, it doesnā€™t happen with everyone, I just got unlucky/lucky :woman_shrugging:t3: with it. They didnā€™t give me some examples of alternatives, I shall I have to look into that one you said.

Grr, that is maddening.
I hope I donā€™t have to switch to weekly, Iā€™m already over an hour and a half away and I donā€™t drive.

My onco said they alwaysvtry docetaxel first as having weekly paclitaxel requires more visits and therefore reduces number of appointments available. Of course what she she really means is that itā€™s too pricey.

@sez I really hope they sort out an alternative for you that isnā€™t weekly or that you can have locally at least. Xxx

If itā€™s less likely to cause a reaction maybe I can have it done locally (I have to travel to the hospital further away because of the reaction now)?

Yep, more resource intensive so costs more !

Was just looking on September group and they are talking about covid and flu jabs. Iā€™ve got mine both booked for same day and they were talking about separates to minimise feeling ill. What are you all doing?

Iā€™ve had my flu jab but havenā€™t booked the covid one as I donā€™t think bookings are open in Scotland yet but last time it made me very ill.

Yes the covid one made me very ill last time too. Iā€™ve booked mine through nhs app, and its only 1 week after first docetaxel do now thinking i might have been too rash, especially as Iā€™m driving 2 hours down m6 on the day after. I might reschedule them separately xxx

I had both Covid and flu on Saturday and I did wake up with a raging temperature and headache on Sunday morning, by the Monday felt okay, but did feel rough on the Sunday, in hindsight, seperate may have been better, it was 5 days after 3rd EC.

Hope everyone is doing okay tonight x

Iā€™ve got my name down for both jabs but advised to wait till after chemo as Iā€™m fortnightly so not much time in between. Also will need to do separately as one arm not advised to use as I had a lymph node clearance on that side!
PS I had paclitaxel fortnightly so all possibilities are seemingly available depending on your needs I suppose. Mine is an ā€˜accelerated regimeā€™!
