I have x2 scans in the next fortnight (mri for mid treatment measure, boob, and a doppler echocardiogram), also a gynae follow up for an ovarian cyst but that won’t be an examination, just to discuss what we do next about it.
Hate that it’ll possibly be when I’m feeling my worst (always feel crappiest the two weeks after my treatment). Going to be feeling very busy, as 4th treatment week after. Plus after a second reaction to docetaxel and them stopping it they’ll be working out a new treatment plan in the MDT meeting next week so I’m sure they’ll call me about that (maybe have to go in).
OMG….I now know exactly what it feels like to have a filgrastim injection. The only part of me that doesn’t hurt is my arms. Somebody described it as having had an intense workout at the gym….they were not wrong. I have been lucky not to have had these, but from next treatment I will be having them for 5 days. Oh what fun.
Have a lovely weekend everyone xx
@bigpickle I think it gets better with filgrastim. My first cycle I had it for 10 days of the two weeks and had painful legs and hips even. They did cut it down to 7 days each fortnight and must say I don’t really notice any effects now. However it hangs over me each day, knowing I have to do it. Last one tonight for this cycle It has done its job though, my wbc count is always good.
Must say I didn’t know chemo was going to be so complicated! and also bring to light other issues we have to deal with!
I’m already post menopausal but still dreading the endocrine treatment - how can they drag even more oestrogen out of me? Best not to look too far ahead I guess and deal with it gradually.
Good new is that the nausea has subsided, so I should be happy!
Take care all. @sievehead will think of you in the pink wig, yay last ec! xx
@dhmb I was perimenopausal before all this too. I’m 47. I haven’t had a period in ages. I guess chemo stops it. But the hot flashes are awful. I’m sleeping without any covers most nights and have a cooling pillow and blanket. If I get upset or stressed, I go so hot and red. I wonder what will happen after chemo. I am having a masectomy too before radiotherapy. X
@bluesatsuma we are more similar than meets the eye then and we definitely got this. Waiting to have 2nd pertaxil or whatever it’s called… already had a meltdown when i was asked how i felt and feeling red in the face… oh the joys … can we fast forward to spring to our healthier selves? Thay thought keeps me going…
So after all the palava yesterday…my saga continues.
Temperature this morning was 37.1….not overly concerned. Took dog out for a nice walk, and felt a bit shivery coming back. Temperature was 37.7. Oh dear. Waited a bit then took it again, now 38. Rang number on card and left a message. The answerphone message said if not heard anything in 30 minutes ring back. Packed a bag, took temperature again, 38.3. Said to husband take me to A&E and if they phone back from my message then at least I am heading up there. Waiting to be admitted….temp just 37.9. Something going on. Chemo won’t go ahead on Monday.
@bigpickle oh no just what you don’t need. Sorry to hear but hoping your temp drops back to normal soon. Must feel like one step forward and two back. Sending hugs. xx
So, I am back home. They think the filgrastim injection I had yesterday caused a temperature spike…it can happen apparently. I have had IV antibiotics and a prescription for 7 days. Unfortunately they gave me another filgrastim injection….so the same thing may happen again. Got to keep an eye on temperature and if it spikes again I have to ring the chemo helpline….which they never answered today despite me leaving 2 messages. My neutrophils were 0.3 yesterday……after one injection they were up to 7 today, the injections do their job.
The saga continues…
Went to bed last night, could not sleep at all as my heart felt like it wanted to jump out of my chest. So got up about 11:45, took temperature….38.4 and heart rate was 116. Phoned emergency number and this time they answered. Told to go back to A&E, as they shouldn’t have discharged me as temperature was not stable. Came back to hospital and eventually seen about 2:30 am. Put back on IV antibiotics and being monitored. Temperature has come down, last reading 36.6., but heart rate still above 100… In the right place, and don’t think they will chuck me out so quickly.
@bigpickle noooo… poor you. You’re not getting any sleep either! Do hope it all calms down soon. Hope they bring some nice snacks round at least. Sending more hugs xx
Aw @bigpickle i’m sorry to hear that.
The last thing you need when you’re under the weather is disrupted sleep too. Like you say, you’re in the right place. I hope the antibiotics do their job and your heart rate comes down to a normal level.
You said it right @bigpickle , the saga continues unfortunately but by the looks of it , it’s now on the right track. Fingers, toes and everything i can think of are crossed hoping for you to get back more to yourself soon
Hope you’re able to get some rest even though in hospital. Have they mentioned what might be the cause?
Wishing you a speedy recovery with lots of hugs xx
@bigpickle so sorry to hear about your struggles. All the back and forwards to hospital can’t be helping either. Hopefully this time they make sure you are stable before sending you home. X
