August 2024 chemo starters

It sucks doesn’t it… i did mention to my oncologist after the 3nd cycle of EC: it took me longer to bouce back this time round to which he replied: you are having an agressive type of chemotherapy, you’re not supposed to bounce back… i was left for words like… thanks for the pep talk mate…

Hugs and wishing it gets better xx

Hey All, Sounds like some have had a few blips but we are all hanging on in here even when it’s a bit hairy at times and a rotten few days.:heart:
Had my 6/8 today, second Paclitaxel.infusion. So far so good:crossed_fingers: I ended up in A&E the evening of my last chemo( first time on Paclitaxel) my heart rate dropped to 45 bpm at rest and temperature also dropped. All was fine and I came home after 9 hours  Will monitor it today but hopefully it was just a one off.
I am definitely getting more tired as time goes on. Trying really hard to listen to my body and rest lots.
I’m starting to wonder what life after chemo/cancer will look like, can’t quite remember what normal is anymore

Came home from round 4/6 and went straight to bed, I was exhausted, probably won’t sleep tonight. It didn’t feel like I properly recovered this round at all. Platelets were low and oncologist nearly delayed me a week. I felt a bit sick throughout treatment today but they’ve lowered my carbo by 20%, said it will be just as effective. Certainly don’t feel the benefit of the reduced dose yet but really hoping I get the third week recovery at least. I want to do the 100 squats a day challenge for November (split it in to 4x 25) as I last round I did the odd dog walk but really not much exercise and I know that’s good for raising white blood cells but just haven’t been up to it.
Wishing you all well as we get to half way on these treatment rounds xxxx

Thays just it @songbird1 even though we have/had cancer and our families are also affected, only us in the group and similar ones really know the ins and outs we honestly prefered not to know… it is what it is so we must soldier on…

Tight hugs xx

On my way for Docetaxel Day!

Actually managed a full 3 hours sleep last night before getting up at 3am to deep clean the house and ensure all the kids laundry was sorted. I got a walk in with a friend and have taken my 4 dexamethasones, 2 anti sickness pills, and my lansaprazol.

I’m very scared.

Im plugged in. So far it seems ok. Been going 10 mins so probably not allergic. My temp was 37.7 but after hat came off it seemed to lower. Sitting in my chair bald and brave.

I hope it carries on that i feel ok.

Thank you for all the well wishes… it really helps. I hope youre all having good days. Xxx

On way home. As per usual it took longer to get pharmacy meds than the actual chemo. Pleased to report though that my first docetaxel was fine. Now to see what happens over next few days. Dominos for tea! Xxx

May the feeling long continue @bluesatsuma :clap: so glad for you!

Kept up with the updates just was a bit too out of it druged to reply. Paclitaxel makes me feel so sleepy so i end up sleeping most of the day completely out of the count  But more importantly, Paclitaxel no. 4 done so 1/3 done :raised_hands::raised_hands:

How is everyone doing with their treatments?

Sending lots of love to the bald and not so bald but always brave peeps in the group xx

@dhmb I have two treatments of docexe and carbo left. Round four has floored me. I’m on day two, not even started the filgrastim injections, shouldn’t be feeling the side effects of hitting the steroid wall yet, just gubbed. Wishing I was up to a dominoes pizza. I’ll force down a few wee bits of bland pasta and get some ginger cordial down me. The cumulative effect is hitting hard. And my nails are bruising and getting sore. I’ve painted them dark blue but only two more rounds to go.
I admire you troupers so much, you all inspire me.

Hi all - think we’re all getting to that point now. @bluesatsuma glad you got through your doxetaxel (?) ok, fingers crossed for the next few days. @songbird1 and @dhmb sorry you’re feeling the effects so much…. My sickness has gone but still get out of breath very easily. Can’t wait till I finish and can at least take stock and rebuild a bit. I do admire you being ‘bald and brave’ @bluesatsuma - I could go out and scare people on Halloween if I don’t wear something on my head as I’ve left the surviving straggly bits in place :flushed::scream_cat:. Take care all xx

I can really recommend O’Keefs.
They do separate ones for hands and feet and they are simply amazing I think.

Hi @songbird1
All the same for me.
I’ve not found the Docetaxel too bad but o suppose I have nothing to compare it too either but I was also told is particularly brutal
Kind regards
