August 2025 chemo starters

Hi all, just had my 2 EC, wasn’t too sure if they would do it as I’ve been diagnosed with a diverticulitis flare up and on antibiotics, but they said it was ok to go ahead. The lovely chemo nurses and doctor could tell i was struggling with the SE from the 1st cycle so have lowered the dosage this time round to make things more manageable. Heres hoping its better this time around. As my hair is shedding at an alarming rate, I got my husband to clip most of it off so at least only short bits will fall out now. Hope everyone is doing ok

Hello everyone :two_hearts::two_hearts:
I’ve been catching up on posts and just wanted to say it looks like we’re all pushing through this now. There have been many, many crappy side effects, chemo dates pushed back, poorliness and hair loss, but everyone is moving on to second doses or even coming up to third doses.
It just shows how much fight you all have in you, even when you don’t feel it.

Keep going warriors. Even when I’m not posting on here, I’m thinking of you all

2nd EC yesterday and wide awake now due to steroids. Don’t feel too bad, braved the cold cap again but it did seem more painful, don’t know if it was because my hubby wasn’t with me to distract me or if it is because there is less hair? The nurse who dampened my hair and put on the conditioner said there was no hair on her hands and she usually sees a lot of hair at this stage so will see how it goes. Keep asking the Oncologist and the nurses if I am to expect the same side effects as EC 1 but they won’t commit to an answer and say every round is different. I have a tendency to fast forward all the time and start to stress what it will be like on weekly Paclitaxel. I need to start taking each day as it comes I think and not look too much into the future months. Hope you are all doing well or as well as can be expected. Going to try and get some sleep now :zzz::zzz:

Completely agree with you! I can get to sleep now fine but seem to wake up every night at about 2.30am and then awake until 5ish. My Sleepio initial score was terrible :joy: I wake up needing to go for a wee or with acid indigestion and then have got into a routine of googling about breast cancer and whatever I’m worried about on that particular day. It’s exhausting! I’m also 4 weeks into chemo and the prickly sore feeling of losing my hair was waking me up too but I’ve gone for the head shave now which has helped.
I really hope your sleep is improving

@woodstock77 I’ve got the widows wide open as I’m having those pesky hot flushes and just like you I end up waking up for a wee and then picking up my phone. The weirdest thing is I’ve been waking at 0.00, 1.11, 2.22, 3.33. I wonder if someone is trying to tell me something :joy::joy::joy:.

Weirdly it has improved already!

I’m the same, no problem falling asleep but waking multiple times in the night. I’d often just get up for a bit and then come back to bed and try again.

In the app there’s a bit with some recordings to listen to. I listened to one where they said to pick a random word ( “the”) and repeat that over and over in your head.

That’s working a treat. I still wake up but thinking “the … the” stops all the other thoughts coming in and I can roll over and go back to sleep! Witchcraft!

Hi lovely people. I’m day 8 after 2nd EC and hoping to start feeling a bit better tmor (that’s how it went for first EC). Just wondering if anyone else is struggling with night sweats - hot and cold on repeat? I’m 59 so surprised really that they are so bad but for me it’s the worst thing about the current shitshow. Waking up cold and wet then hot and wet and not enough energy to keep changing clothes and sheets. Anyone found any solutions?
Oh and shaved my hair yesterday. Did two coldcaps but developed a thinning baldy brushover anyway so my beautiful 22 yr old son clippered it off for me last night. Can’t say I feel like a million dollars with the new doo but it’s definitely better (and less hurty). Keep filling up tho at my son’s act of love - felt so kind and he was so careful - so a bit emotional today.
Huge love and hugs to you all

@pollypox Feel your frustration with the hot cold sweats, it was like sleeping in a fridge for my hubby last night, I had my second EC yesterday and last night was hot then cold, I’m 61 so thought I had finished with all these night sweats. I cold capped again yesterday but my hair is shedding even though the nurse who wet down my hair and conditioned it said there was very little shedding.
Feeling pretty rubbish today so called in sick at work and going back to bed :bed:

I’ve been brave today and had my head shaved as well. Feels like there’s a few of us at that stage at the moment . I was really upset this morning with it just coming out, so I sent my hairdresser an SOS (wasn’t due to see her until next week) and she kindly sorted me out. So I now have a grade 4 with 3 at the sides and am currently giving my wig a test run around the house. I feel like that was a big hurdle to jump, and now that’s done the only way is up (right?!). Hopefully I’ll sleep well tonight, I’m emotionally exhausted after that today.

Hugs to everyone who needs one
