August 2026 chemo starters

Yeah, my friend had double M and ovaries out too.

@wibbles thank you so much, I have got myself a bamboo hat for night time I am going to start to wear it tonight.

It’s hard knowing it would/might happen hair loss but when it starts it’s gut wrenching. I suppose I don’t want the random tilt of the heads from people. Few of the mums at school don’t know yet so treat me as me that’s going change soon.

On the plus save money on hair products!!!

Hopefully your doing ok to xxx

@titch1 i totally get you. Mine is falling out fast now. I’ve not told many people. I want to pretend it’s not happening and to be treated as me. And I hate that soon I’ll lose that control too. Although I’m hoping it will drop in temp and I can wear beanies and nobody will know !

That makes sense, it’s so hard for you. I really feel for you, please just remember this isn’t your fault, no matter what the mum guilt says :black_heart: Have you spoken to them about it yet?

I also have 2 daughters (younger than your girls) plus sisters and they’re the reason I got tested as well.

@Absolutely_Not Not yet as I’ve now been referred to the clinical genetic team, so I’m awaiting the first appointment with them, so I’m armed with (hopefully) all the answers before I tell them. It’s only been a month since I’ve started treatment too, so I don’t want to overload them all at once either. It won’t make any difference to their timelines, as nothing will happen til then anyway.

That’s exactly the reason I had the testing, but I was (obviously) hoping for a negative result xx

That makes complete sense, I’d do the same. It’s so much for you to take in, in such a short space of time as well, never mind them. I hope the appointment is soon and they give you all the answers you and the girls need. I hope that if the girls do decide to get tested that their results are negative :black_heart:

Hi ladies looks like I am going to have to go full pixie cut later loads more hair fell out this morning. In the end I washed it just to try and feel normal for one last time.

I am in bits I know it’s hair and in three months I can start growing it again but it’s shite this cancer. I’ve plucked up the courage and told a few of the mums from school thought if I get it out first it might save the pitty looks and comments.

I’ve contacted a friend and going out for lunch going to wear one of my new chemo hats to get use to wearing it. Going somewhere quite quicker i get use to it the better x

Hope you are all ok? Anyone else taken the cut yet? If you have have you continued with the cold cap as I heard this suppers re growth x

I hear you on the hair. It’s really got me down and I’ve been upset most days for the last week or so.

I don’t want to tempt fate but the last couple of days I’ve not lost hardly any hair. I’ve got my 3rd treatment next Friday and plan to cold cap still.

It’s hard as we know there’s a chance it might happen even if we cold cap but it’s hard to cope with.

Enjoy your lunch out with your friend x
