Hi Debs, good to read on the other thread your scan was clear, really pleased for you. re trails esp PARP I have been asking my onc for ages for info on what is happening where that I may be suitable for, nothing from her yet
Hi Jane, sorry to hear about your lung, I had a bad chest infection last month that ended up postponing treatment, and it felt horrid, so can being to imagine how you are feeling at the mo, I do hope they can resolve that for you somehow.
Take care both, hereās to TNBC miracles appearing tomorrow for us!!

DEBS - I havenāt been on here in ages - i was getting too focused on those of us that were not doing so well and found myself wondering every day about how people were doing - and worrying all day until i got to the internet to check - so wasnāt getting the positive side of what forums are about. I was adamant that i be given Avastin - my onc believes in it - says a years worth would cost Ā£28,000 and a further Ā£10,000 for administration - his fee would be Ā£0 but he would be happy to do that - haing said that he did say even if i had the Ā£28,000 (believe it or not i donāt have it sitting in my current a/c!! ) he would not suggest it at this stage - but who knows maybe he doesnāt want to stress me knowing i donāt have the funds. It has dawned on me to set up a new charity for us with breast cancer which would make funding available for drugs outside the NICE shopping list!! We could have the āPink Ribbon Raceā run all over the UK at the same time on the same day - we could have a celebrity runner in each of the main uk cities - surely we would get some media coverage - and bring attention to how non individual the NHS treatments are. Donāt get me wrong - my treatment with the NHS has been amazing - would not fault it - having said that I really believe my onc would prescribe different treatments when appropriate if he were not confined to the āone size fits allā rule!
I think the beauty of these forums is we get to see what is happening to others in a similar position. Plus we can share our experiences and with luck learn from them.
Roche caped the price as NICE works its cost effectiveness out as 30k a year for the last couple of years of our life. Most drug comp have followed and try and keep the price below 30k.
Since my last post on here I have done a coupe of threads re wrong scan results and I am no on Taxol for the third time.
At the moment I am recovering from having my first taxol. I donāt seem to have much benefit of maintenance avastin, for me it has worked much better having it with taxol. One reason is that had I had avastin earlier I would of had a better chance.
I know what you mean about checking on here to see how our cyber friends are. Itās like popping your head round the doors of the local wine bar to see who is around.
Well I am off now so take care and we will all speak soon.
Love Debsxxx
Do not want to harp on about my deep disappointment with Avastin after being fed all that hype, but in case it is of interest to anyone with a similar experience, my blood pressure has finally got back to normal, it has taken 6 months after stopping Avastin.
